It might not be in line with the thinking of much of todays dogooding soft society but i really cant see why dog rehoming centres even exist !.......is there a shortage of dogs or something ?.....If a dogs not wanted put it down whats this obssession with finding a siutable home for a big useless thing like that.

Poor little child.

Could not agree more,I wish we could make them illegal.

Here's an example of them facilitating irresponsible c**ts;my girlfriends mate got 2 mongerel looking staffs and bred them every year, the bitch got very stressed and chewed the house up so they both got put into a rescue.

Next she got 2 Akitas, they were too hairy for the house and didn't make a year old before they got put in a rescue, just heard she's now breeds cats!

If the only option was destroying those staffs I think the cycle would have ended there.

I recently assessed a AB for rehoming when it had done its 7 days in the pound awaiting the owner.

After it had shown all the wrong signs charged and went for me even out of the kennel environment I deemed it not to be rehomed and PTS due to its sheer hatred of men..........just seen it's been saved from death row by some tree hugging fur mom that needs to save everything and anything, clearly I'm not impressed and this case today made me shudder.

When these idiots finally realise euthanasia is the final act of kindness the better but that's just my humble opinion.

i think rescue centres has a place but has to be run better with more checks done on dog and human, you cant just put down every dog ffs.

It would be better if they did, make people face up their responsibilities I stead of just dumping them on rescues and probably getting a new one for the exact same thing to happen again.

No re-homing centres......................? Number of dogs 'put down' each year might fall, if it wasn't possible to fob the animal off and make it someone else's problem, and if the only option was to personally take the dog on it's 'final walk' ?

(Neems- just pipped me there!)

for every bad dog theres 50 good ones so for thats i aint got a problem with rescue homes, so if they was made to be responsible for a death in some part then.the bad , dangerous, dogs wouldnt fall through the net and serve their main aim in giving a good dog the home it needs.

Poor little child.

It's a good point about the re-homing obsession, they are full of bull breeds, why not just put all these dogs down & start again, the sheer cost of keeping this never ending cycle of unwanted dogs is mental, also there may only of been 18 deaths from dogs in recent years, but thousands of attacks, which cause physical & mental damage & this figure is rising with the surge in numbers of status dogs among idiot owners.

It's only gonna get worse if something drastic isn't done.....

Also don't understand how people make money breeding dogs with so many dogs in shelters. More of the fact that I think the majority of dogs haven't earned the right to be bred. Nothing wrong with keeping any breed as a pet but if it is just a pet don't breed it. Guess its aload of problems that goes from the breeders to the owners who want a dog for their own ego.

Don't get me wrong about rescue dogs, my family & many people I know have had many good examples over the years, but the worlds not gonna be a worse place if all these dogs awaiting homes were put down tomorrow....would it?

Because certain breeds and crosses fall out of fashion.also if you look on many tears website lot of heir rescues are ex breeding dogs all unsocialised and ill kept.

Why cant you ?....Dog breeding is an industry......any industry where production far outweighs demand theres going to be wasteage..................trouble is with the dog industry the waste gets put into family homes with children via rehoming centres ....homes that had the dog not been free more than likely would not of owned the dog in the first place..............dangerous game if you ask me.

Do that and get tougher on the c**ts peddling dogs. Only as an animal lover you can't help feel abit bad for the dogs being put down simply because no longer wanted. However a human life is more valuable I'm not stupid and if it saves life's then it should be done. I had a Stafford that I couldn't bring with me when moved. Dog slept in the same bed as us and grew up around young loud kids under the age of 10. Never even growled at a person. Was dog aggressive and because of that he was put down rather than rehomed. Is an accident waiting to happen and wouldn't want that for someone else's pet.
