lanesra 3,994
Don't Know All The Facts But News Is Saying The Dog Is A French Mastiff . . That Type Of Dog Is Not "A Pet" Also Id Say Keeping A Dog Like A Mastiff In A Flat Ain't The Cleverest Idea , Through Sheer Ignorance A Child Has Lost Her Life . . Yet Again Owners Who Aren't Experienced Enough With This Type Have Lost There Child Which Will Destroy Them Forever , They Have Made A Monumental Mistake For Which I Feel Devastated For That Little Girl And The Family !!

neems 2,406
You'd think it would be common sense not to leave a little girl alone with a dog that size, let alone one you've only had a coupl of months and has suffered abuse at the hands of its previous owner. It's people treating animals like people that causes this sort of thing IMO,poor girl must have died a horrific death.
bracken boy 584
dont know if this is correct but heard it came from a rescue? so the rescue let it go to a flat and a younster? or didnt even check.

mick c 411
ffs poor little girl ... as you may of seen last week I sold a ddb as a guard only dog .. ive been around this breed of dog for many yrs now and know what there capable of ... not really a breed to be in a flat with young children . even tho they do have a great temperament they can turn like any dog at anytime and such a powerful dog to do this is such a terrible thing to happen .. I did panic when I saw this as my bitch was sold locally .. and I only live 10miles from mountsorrell myself ... I wonder what kennels she had this dog from cos a kennel not far from mountsorrel sold a staffy to a family last year that bit the owners ear off within a week of rehoming
dare 1,103
Don't matter about the dogs size or how long you've had the dog you shouldn't leave a child around them. As for the ddb not being a pet, IMO that's exactly all they are? Don't think I've ever come across a working ddb kennel online in the uk? Pretty much like alot of guard breeds people call em guards simply because of the breed it is rather than the dog. Same as when I see ads online of American bulldogs for sale and they put great guard dog. Why because its an American bulldog and barks? Abit like if you've got a pitbull that makes aload of noise at the end of the lead. Doesn't mean you got the next dead game gr ch. anyway bit of subject would just love to see a line of ddb here bred worker to worker. Like most people I loved the dog when young and watched turner and hooch.

bracken boy 584
so how much trouble is the owner in then? would it not be easier for rescues and law saying certain breeds from rescues not to rehomed with children or a total proper housecheck which i bet was not done. Suzy Ross 236
Unthinkable tragedy, so sorry for all concerned. When are people going to realize mixing dogs with young kids is a risk. They shouldn't be left unsupervised. Everyone who has a dog never thinks their dog would do this, even guys reading this. That's why it will never stop, this child won't be the last and the same old, the dogs never bite before will be churned out. Poor kid.
