kranky 507
I rigged up an antler tube shooter I had with some 1745 looped tubes. It had Theraband black tubes on it and they worked perfectly but, after drilling holes and slots for looped tubes, I found that the tubes wouldn't sit in the grooves on top of the forks. I grabbed some castration rings and placed them around the tops of the forks, held them in place with some micro pore tape and they sit just where they should. I've always liked how fast the Chinese tubes shoot and initially tried this with 9.5mm steel balls. I was getting quite a bit of handslap with such light ammo but found that it went when I used M 8 hexnuts. I was still getting serious speed and once I'd worked out how to shoot them accurately, I decided to try them when I next grabbed a feral for the ferrets. I shot this bird from a standing position while it was perched under a bridge about 15 foot up and 20 yards away. My first shot hit low and sparks shot off of the wall as the hex nut hit it. My second shot hit the top of the wing and smashed the bone before carrying on and penetrating the chest. The bird pitched forward and flapped to the floor, landing on it's back with a thud and then lay still. I'm going to try some different ammo out of these bands and see what's the best compromise between speed and knock down power.

kranky 507
I could never achieve the craftsmanship that you display in your frames. I just use what Allah provided me. I scrape off the bark and round off sharp edges. I might make a little adjustment here and there to make it fit my hand better but other than that they stay much as they are. I've had a nice Hawthorn fork sitting about for ages, that I'm putting buffalo horn tips on and shaping and rigging with looped tubes. That'll be there for a while yet before I get around to it! Once I'd managed to get out of the mindset that every frame should be perfectly symmetrical I found a lot of forks, that I would've previously discarded, were very good shooters. Blackbriar 8,569
Nice shooting, K ! I've only fired 'man-made's', but I'd love to try one of those. Just one thing........................castration rings ??? Don't like the sound of them !
kranky 507
Castration Bands are the small strong rubber rings that are use to remove tails and balls off of lambs and pigs by cutting off the blood. They are tiny and can be used to secure bands to forks. But not in all cases.

kranky 507
I was taking the piss. I'm the last person that Mohammed would want. Even the Jehovah Witnesses got a court order to stop me from bothering them>
