At The Rabbits On New Land

Recommended Posts

Well I sent a random email about 2 weeks ago to a farm I had my eye on,it's only 16 acres but it holds a few rabbits,I'm allowed the dogs on aswell (bonus)

Well it was me mhopton and my nephew with moss and Molly my lurcher and mhoptons Russell

We arrived at about 8:30 and got straight to it, we netted up the firs burrow and slipped a couple of my kits in,they were slow to start and we're mucking about a bit so mhopton put his Jill in and bolted 5 I think it was so that was a start, anyway we carried on along the same bank netting in front as we went, these burrows were pretty easy compared to what we normally do so we were happy, after a couple of burrows my 2 kits decided they were going to start working and to be honest I was over the moon with how they worked I must of dug to my albino kit about 8 times as the rabbits were been sticky which in my eyes is good for this years kit but any way it was a great day the dogs worked and marked well and the ferrets really impressed for been this years kits, so we nicked off about 2:45 and ended the day with 37 rabbits with 1 missed

The farmer was pleased and he's even got me another 50 acres off the farm next door so happy days

Here's a few pics

They're not the best but you get the idea

Cheers all , like rc1 said it was land we never new and rc1 only had a little look around before hand until Sunday morning,

The banks were slippery but no where near as bad as some terrain we have worked in the past, the dogs were all over looking and marking setts all over you could see just by looking at them they were loving it , the ferrets we'll mine mother and son rc1 took a little silver Jill think it's out of the one he calls the warrior (the name says everything ) she did get off a bit slow but boy she made up for lost time showed her true self none stop grafter , my kit Hob on his second outing just the same work rate with plenty rabbets bolted , to be fair with the dogs every thing we wanted them todo they did, Molly found the banks and few bushes with ease ,moss never give in even on the steeper banks , think she about 24 tts so up n down hills all day was hard work ,they both done us proud all day. The team just gets stronger !!
