Pellet Weights Question

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I know pellet selection is a personal / gun choice but I just have a quick question about pellet weights.

I'm struggling to get my .22 TX200 very accurate above about 30 yards, with RWS super field which are 15.9 gr. I've also found superfields to be terrible in my .177 as well so I'll be ditching these totally.

With the .177's there isn't alot of difference really in all the big brands, mostly between 8 to 8.6 gr I've found.

However with the .22's there seems to be a bigger available range of weights.

I'm thinking that around the 16 gr mark may be a little too heavy for it, so was thinking of coming down a touch. However the two brands of pellets I wanted are Air Arms and JSB exacts which are both around the 16 gr mark.

So my question is: is a 16 gr pellet considered a bit heavy for a springer? To come down though to around 14.5-15 I'd have to ditch air arms or JSB exacts. The reason I like air arms is that they did really well in my .177 and I regret trying the superfields as they were crap.

Thanks
