A Good Lurcher

Recommended Posts

From all the years of experience and wealth of knowledge on this site can someone shed any light on the finding of a GOOD lurcher ??

Before anyone starts I do believe that with training and given the opportunity a lurcher csn come good but its finding the right one in the first place

Source a decent pup and put the work in........

True, and it should go with out saying, but source one from parents doing the type of work your looking to do with the pup, its no good ending up with a dog 20tts if your looking to do the bigger faster stuff  atb, buster.

I see it all the time on here source a decent pup breeder whatever ...but how do you source this decent pup if no one talks or gives you an inclination ... as people say when you do come to find a good pup and you look in mags like edrd and cmw the people will tell you anything and everything you want to hear as long as it gets the sale

there was a old lad that told me once that some of the best dogs can come from from two shit dogs and some crap dogs can come from 2 excellent dogs so take a chance all you can do

If your not lucky enough to know someone with a litter from good stuff and have to buy from an advert then dont tell them what you are looking for, ask THEM what the sire and dam have been doing, and only believe half of what they tell you,if they arnt doing what you want from the pup then look elseware, maybe go to Hancocks or Dave Slight, plenty do, if your looking for a beddy cross have a look on the 2 main beddy sites, i spotted an add on one last night for 1st cross beddy/GH pups, put on by a fella with a good name, dont rush in to buying anything as your going to have it a long time so it has to suit you, you,v started the right way by asking for addvice rather than buying the first thing that comes along, let us know what you want the pup for and let us know if you get fixed up, atb, buster.

all depends what your after.......there are breeders of specific x's, occasionally on here there is an odd pup from a lurcher to lurcher mating avaliable, keep your ear to the ground and stick to your guns if you know what your after

horses for courses, no point in buying a ferreting dog if you don't intend to go ferreting, decide what you want the dog to do, workout the attributes the dog will need to do what you want it to do. then look for a litter that has these attributes . the rest is down to you and the luck of the draw, lurcher litter spread in both build and ability is legendary
