Malt 379
As soon as they shut one down a dozen proxies takes its place.. They are going to force more and more normal people onto the dark net where the real bad shit is because they've absolutely no control over what happens there.. Mister Gain 1,764
Im sure theyre safe but ive always been wary of clicking these sites. You are right to be wary Frann... I have been using Isohunt for a couple of years, and have had quite a few attacks on my computer in that time when going on to the site. Fortunately, my Norton picked them up . However, Isohunt was shut down recently and I looked for another torrent site. I decided to go with Extratorrent. Used it a couple of times and got a few attacks, halted by Norton, then when I booted my PC on friday, after the normal screen had been on for a second or so a 'police warning' took over my computer. It hijacks your webcam and puts a picture of you up with your location, ISP number etc.. It locks your computer. There is a load of spiel about copyright, spamming, porn sites and downloading software, music films etc. It looked quite convincing, but I found out it is something called 'ransomeware'.. This was the Ukash virus, a trojan which isn't detected by McAfee, Norton, Kapersky etc.. It took me 5 hours to suss it all out. There is a free program which gets rid of it called 'malwarebytes'.. thank christ, cos manual removal looked a nightmare. Question is, if malwarebytes can deal with it, why can't the top anti-virus software like Norton etc?, why am I paying them £30 per year?.. the Ukash virus has been about for over a year now? There are numerous versions of the Ukash virus, Canadian, US (FBI warning) Australia, UK, etc etc. It tells you that it has collected data from your PC and that is creating a legal case against you, and informs you that you buy Ukash vouchers for £100 and enter a code and your PC will be unlocked... but it doesn't get unlocked apparently, and the case will not progress. I wonder how many people have succumbed to this scam. Anyway, all good now.
Flipper_Al 1,012
The chances are you became infected with this virus, because you downloaded it inside one of the torrent files I would say about 60% of all software on torrent is infected in some way Once you download a file scan it with your AV, and other software like malwarebytes/Emsisoft emergency kit, to see if its infected. Heres a post i put up earlier about removing virus's, may save you some time next time Useful software for removing virus 1) boot machine into safe mode power on and start pressing the F8 key until the menu comes up Select safe mode with networking, from the menu Once the machine is up and running 2) Download Emsisoft emergency kit, install, update it and run a DEEP scan http://www.emsisoft....n/software/eek/ 3) Download malwarebytes install, update and run a FULL scan http://www.filehippo...s_anti_malware/ 4) Download Ccleaner install and run a registry cleanup http://www.filehippo...nload_ccleaner/

The Seeker 3,048
Hi Flipper I have an old laptop i used to use for work but the screen started to fail so i got a replacement, I used it for ISO Hunt but I can no longer get onto the internet, not use ef this is due to a virus? It can see my wireless router and I have dropped the connection to the router and re-connected and all is fine with theconnection but I just can get onto the web. If I type a web address in the browser it just cycles for ages then tells me there is a network fault. I can however in the command prompt ping the web such as the BBC or Google. Do you know what I can do to get it on the net again?
