i would go for a 12 bore with 24grams cartridges thats how i started my boy off when he was 8, then you dont have to change the gun when he gets older and if your only going to spend £150 or lower you can cut the stock down .so when he gets older or bigger you can put the bit that you cut off back on to make it fit .

I was thinking about getting my wee lad who is 11, a 410 or something along these lines.What do you think might be the best for a lad of this age? price range £150 max, would be used for rabbits crows pigeons and duck maybe, cheers lindsay :gunsmilie:

A single barrel .410. Its will teach him to stalk quarry as the range is not as great as a 12g and will prevent the automatic follow up shot with the second barrel if he misses. Will save you cash on shells and will hopefully make him a better shot as he will take more time and make them count. You can pick up single barrel .410 for that money easy... maybe even one with a 3" chamber if you want a little more poke.

well said :clapper::clapper: don't want to put him off to .thats the way i started and now shoot clay for our county team with afew years the single barrel will alway stand to me cheers sounder
