Williampullar 4
Any new members asking questions like this raise suspicion straight off the bat walking through the rape the cur gets a faint whiff of something, her tail is up in the air, head down and you can tell by the way she's hunting up its a long ear, her hairs standing on end and you can sense her excitement, she's been schooled at this for a while now and she knows the hare's going to burst from its seat any second, my own excitement starts to build and I daren't breath, I want to take in every moment, fill all my senses from start to finish, you can't but this at any circus or funfair, its a need which must be met, a need deep inside mans soul, a game which has been played out for centuries, the hunter and the hunted, the predator and the prey, what seems like an age passes and still nothing, the dogs going back over the same ground and a doubt starts to cross my mind, perhaps the cool morning air and frost on the leaves have left a strong scent and Mr hare is long gone, then whoosh the dogs off like a train, I momentarily can't see the long ear but the bitch sure has, I shouldn't have doubted her, she knew the score, she's come across this scent many times and knows the hare was in there somewhere, she gains ground almost instantly and puts in a strike, she likes to hit them quick and get the job done, this is a smart hare though, a strong January hare which has evolved to outrun its predators, it stops dead and turns back on itself, the dog overshoots and loses a good few yards trying to regain direction, she again starts trying to make up the ground, you can almost feel her muscles bursting as she starts to catch up, the hares making for the hedge though and she knows she must catch up before puss gets there, this is where her experience shows, she gains and makes the hare change direction, she's almost on top of it now but she knows to hold back and wait for the hare to make the next move, although the bitch is mostly greyhound with some whippet and maybe collie somewhere in her make up, she's a more up and at them bitch rather than a plodder but she's still learned to run clever, she again presses the hare but doesn't strike, she waits for the hare to turn which it does but still no strike and only puts a bend in the run, she hasn't lost any ground this time though and almost immediately makes the hare make a move, this time she connects, a great strike which makes her tumble and she rolls and hits the ground with muck flying, my hearts in my mouth but she gains her feet with the long ear still in her possession, its been a hard run so I walk over to her to take her prize, I don't take it right away though, I let her display her trophy and revel in her praise, she's breathing hard and the cold crisp air is catching her lungs, she gets a good rub and her feet are checked, a couple of minutes pass and she's willing for me to have her prize, in the bag it go's and its stew for dinner the night for the family and my favourite bitch
