A Bit Of Nostalgia

On the left picture is Mrs Morley taking supreme show champion and me with our Sally taking reserve. This show ground was at Maltby South Yorkshire, not far from where Maltby whippet club is now.

The picture on the right was taken at Crickhowell Powys South Wales. This was the venue for the UK show championships in 1986, on the left is David Gaydon with his bitch Queen who took reserve show champion of champions. Me on the right with our Sally, taking Supreme show champion of champions

Phil Lloyd was judging that day.

This show & racing went on to become Chatsworth run by the NLRC.

Another from the past, me old mate Pat Mathews, he also knew how to get a dog fit for racing and the high jump top left

This photo was taken at our lurcher club in the 80s, it was one of the biggest lurcher clubs in the country, the Bolsover Working Lurcher Club. My racing victories got me the nick name the 'Beast of Bolsover' after the MP 'Dennis Skinner' one of the Clay Cross rebels who refused to pay their poll tax or was it their council rates

The light brindle bitch on the left is my Mona out of Sally collie x greyhound 2 Country Music, the brindle & white on the right was litter sister she was sold to a chap at Northamton who only worked his dogs, she took her first fox at 13months old. Mona went on to win the All Counties racing Championships, unfortunately I at to sell her because my wife was terminally ill with leukaemia

Also remember your old bitch "Sally" and that Stag dog from Cornwall wasn't he ?

 

Wasn't them final's used to be called the "UK" Final's and used to be held Derbyshire ? Used to go there for the weekend with a couple of mates, great Craic and happy memories

Your memory's going a bit breeze LOL the UK finals were held at a scout camp at Uttoxeter and run by Derbyshire Lurcher and Longdog club They objected to the NL&RC having a championship at Chatsworth because theres was already up and running, in the following years the DLL heirarchy were elected secretary of the NL&RC (sowhat and myself were also up for the position) and low and behold the UK finals folded
