you would be better of with something bigger than a bullxwhippet imo

 

Why's that?

As pesting dogs they do very well. But for all round lurcher work, particularly on rougher terrain they need that bit more stature, especially the half cross. I'm not being kennel blind 'cos I have one. I'd love to see one put to a good coursing saluki whippet though. Anyone tried it?

They have the stamina to recover from a run, and go again and again, but in my (limited) experience, not the wind for those runs to be over long. Talking half x here by the way! Edited November 5, 2013 by trenchfoot

What does athletic type mean?Maybe that could be the problem

If only genetics were that simple. An athletic type bull breed and a leggy/beefy whippet will/may have other types within their breeding and in the half cross of some such dogs some beauties may be created. And the odd lump

My own dog is based on an athletic bull type, but my earlier response was based upon reality. Breeding isn't maths. Unless you breed the best lurcher to the best lurcher. But even then.............

If you after big stuff get a bigger dog we all know what limitations they have but as a ferreting and lamping partner on all things legal blackstaffs will take some beating!!!!

Maybe it's just a case of you having poor examples of this type or you having unrealistic expectations.
