A Good Start

Recommended Posts

Havnt posted in a long while but seems I started the season with the bitch on Tuesday I thought I'd put a little update, I acquired a few new bits of permission recently and I must say I am impressed took a look out on Tuesday night with a mate we went early around 8pm and to be honest we wasn't expecting much but the fields was heaving with rabbits! I was delighted. The bitch now pushing 18 months and still quite green only seing very little last season and not really showing much promise I was considering getting in another dog but thought I would hold off a while longer she hasn't seen anything since the end of last season but to start of with the other night she was a bit iffy not really looking down the beam on the first couple of runners and just generally messing about so kept her on the lead the best part of the night and let her watch my mates bitch run I'm the last field of the night there were 5 or 6 In the field and I decided I would give her another go walked right up ontop of the rabbit and kicked it up the bitch spotted it and gave a lovely chase turning it 4 times sticking right up its ass before striking hard and pinning the bunny to the ground I was dead chuffed! I managed to slip her 3 more times in the same field all successful catches giving her a massive confidence boost so 2 hours out and 7 I'm the bag we decided to leave. This afternoon I received a phone call from my mate asking if I wanted to go have a look at a different bit of permission to give his younger bitch a look so he picked me up around 8:30 and we drove out got to the small farm parked up and had a wonder gave the dogs a couple of slips but the rabbits was getting the better of the dogs after walking a few fields we decided to have a look on the ther side of the lane and first field a squatter in the middle of the field I wanted to have this one for my bitch so walked up as close as I could got within 15 yards then the rabbit made a break for it! Bitch spotted it and took chase the way the bitch was running I thought the rabbit was long gone! But suddenly the dog found another gear and made tremendous ground and it was like she was a totally different dog from the other night! As daft as it might sound but it may sound silly but I've never seen the bitch move so fast! She caught the rabbit after 3 turns so I was dead happy with it! The wind then picked up and a slight drizzle and we thought great it's gonna be a perfect night for it then my phone started ringing and had a problem that I had to get home for slightly gutted but got all weekend planned to get out! I'm so pleased with the little 18 inch bitch and think m in for a good season with her! have got a couple of piks which I will post soon, thanks for reading.
