Self Employed Courier Driver?

Recommended Posts

Bein thinking of doing this for a while. Currently work full time but hate my job. Has any one got an idea of how to get started in this line of work, how much on average are earnings and how to become self employed, can I work in my current job and do drinking part time to begin with or not? Any help would be much appreciated folks. Thanks for reading

people think courier is easy work, far from it. self employed is tough, alot of expenses. crazy hours and miles to try make a decent wage.. i done alot of local and long distance stuff, the company benfits from slave labour lol, drivers get f**k all..

It's a k job if your doing it for a firm guarantee wage every week but if your going self employed there is two types multi drop doing 80 too 100 packages or for some firms like yodel they drop the packages of in the morning and you have all day too deliver usually about 50 p a package if you can get 1.50 per package your doing very well and if you go on man with a van route good luck but you have too advertise heavy too get it working and don't mess up your pricing or you will shoot yourself in the foot

no true mate, wages are up and down with same day couriers anyway. they say at interview theres lots of work bla bla bla

first few weeks are lie. so they try give you good jobs, then after that its broken up, to try spread out work with all drivers. no paid holidays, work everyday and night lol you can

edit: for thread starter, if your going to work for same day company, try make it a national one.. improves chance of getting work on way back with long distance jobs, helps alot

i know how it works mate, if your working as same day courier, even a good courier will struggle to make the "minimal wage" every week working "normal hours" you need to do alot of OOH aswell as "normal hours" work to make a decent wage. wages are up and down alot, you aint garenteed a good wage everyweek. if you want a job were you know what you will earn each week, so you know what you have to pay bills etc, self employed courier isnt for you

Thanks lads. Have always heard bad things about the driving until yesterday talking to a driver that does it. Claimed to make 100 plus every day and back in the house by half 3 most days. Thought it to good to be true. Ha ha

"Turning over" and "Making" are not the same thing mate, he may be taking £100 a day, but one parking ticket and £50 of squirt and he actually paid a tenner out of his own money to go to work.

He claimed being the key words here!!!!

You could make a ton a day on the wagons but you'll put a shift in for it.
