Combro - Who's Got One?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Thinking of buying a Combro cb625. Both my guns are underlevers.

Firstly how do they attach? I have seen some videos of people taping them on or using elastic bands, but it looks like there is some kind of clamp supplied with the thing itself, yet in all the pictures I have seen I can't see how its actually held on. For example:

Is it screwed on or something?

Secondly, are they any good?? The F1 chrono I'm sure is better but its out of my price range. This seems to be the only other option.

Thirdly, the website from where I would order them seems the most basic and cobbled website ever. Are these things reliable products and is the company reliable?

Thanks

That picture is more of a marketing shot!

Can you see the lugs sticking down from the plastic bit under the barrel? I use them to attach an elastic band to, double wrapped around the barrel. On the HW97 I mount it upside down.People use various bands and straps to attach it with. Check after each shot.

The knurled knob next to the numbers allows the body to move up and down to align the barrel with the sensors.

The website is a bit rubbish but it works and they are fine. You can buy it from other websites for a little bit more if you are worried.

There is an alternative the Xcortech 3200, this little chrono is seemingly aimed at paintballers but works well with underlevers!

I wrecked my first Combro on an HW 57, this chrono

is within 0.1 ft lb energy of the Combro result (same shot through both machines at the same time).

The Combro is ideal for PCP and break barrels, but for underlevers, the Xcortech is better! If you want to spend double you can buy a Chrony....

If you can line it up straight it'll probably be OK on a fixed barrel. I had one for about five shots until it broke on a break barrel. The mount just snapped. Flimsy crap, IMO.

Is that the combro or the xcortech? Is it easy to line up through the xcortech one?

It was the Combro, mate. I've had no dealings with the other one.

I had a combro. Decent for the money.

They are flimsy tho!

On the hw97 i used to mount upside down. With a few rubber bands.heard of people using cable ties instead!

On a breakbarrel (hw95) i had to be careful so it didnt rattle around too much when cocking the rifle.. incase it broke!

Easy to line up with the barrel..

But the f1 chrony i have now is definately better.

I have an Xcortech for testing the spring powereds in my collection, a Combro worked fine. There was a problem with the plastic of the mounts on the Combro, that has been fixed now.

The Xcortech is easy to line p as long as you mount it high enough, so use a large tripod for a camera or telescope, or have a high bench like a workmate and fire through that and use a large cardboard box as an end stop! The Xcortech will give a read out in feet per second, but the power read out will remain in Joules, so remember you want to be under 16.2696(which is 12 ft lb in Joules).

The xcortech link you gave me comes with a tripod. Its still a smallish hole though im concerned about not being able to line up the barell properly.

I dont know which one will be better so im confused.

Any chance you could post a photo of yours with your underlever lined up with it?
