perthshire keeper 1,239
How big is Ehremont? Population wise? I've been there a few times as a youngster and I always see it mentioned on hunting boards hi EGREMONT is a fairly small spot about 10 thou but its made up of 3 main areas the 2 oldest drisco mount (home of the irving famlie of hunting fame and the kitchen famlie of terrier breeding fame) the town and a fairly new area called oregill, (yup the very same place the famous lakeland was bred oregil copper coin (was he not a crufts winner) egremont also had its own otterhound pack that was kenneld behind the red lion pub i have a photo some where off a otter hanging outside the pup after a hunt! , and if i remember right more pubs on its main street than any where in the country for its size.....it also has the highest concentration of mine shafts under the town every now and them one sinks and takes a house with it! http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2233447/Cumbria-shaft-collapse-leaves-75ft-wide-crater-gardens-forcing-families-flee-homes.html at one time egremont was considerd the hub of lakeland breeding, and lots of top hunt lines can trace their roots back to their, melbreaks turk was related to egremont terriers. its also hive of trialhounds and puppy walkers...its a interesting place with some very intrested people...one of plumbers books has a LOT of info on terriers and terrier men from their in i have it but cant find it Quote Link to post
