back fill 23
Had a border dog a few years back the first day I had him out he was bursting to go so I showed him game the stuff made contact with the dog the dog took of running half way across the field with his tail between his legs much to my friends amusement got him back on the lead let him see an experienced dog work the stuff and put him back in the box.(dog was 15 months ) took the dog out for a walk about a month later the dog put his nose to the ground took of and disappeared down an earth that I didn't no got him out 4 hours later working game. The dog never looked back and he was one of the best terriers I have owned yet although he was to hard for his own good .This dog was cnut to work on when he was injured he bit me on several occasions when cleaning and working on him . 1 Quote Link to post
Accip74 7,112
the ones off today seem to be very late starters if they do at all but in the past have seen some spot on borders as long as they don't get to big when u say the ones of today are very late starters , at watch age roughly are you saying is very late ? 8months ? 12 months? 18 months? Borders have always seemed to have that reputation of being late starters, obviously there are always exceptions, but late starting borders are nothing new, stories of dogs not entering til 3 or 4 are not uncommon, my old man always had a soft spot for them, but wouldn't have them in his kennels due to that reputation, he was never that patient lol My mates son got one as his first terrier, he has shown great promise, but still not properly entered at 2 years Quote Link to post
Jachtterrier 50
i have working borders but here they are more dog agressive then my other terriërs. have to be verry careful with putting them together with other dogs because they start fighting in no time. how do other border lads thinking about this compared with terriërs? mine are no starters compared with other dogs but i think that depends on the line.
