X78 7
Hi, I've been reading the forum for a while now, so it seemed logical to join. I have recently joined my local rifle club (one of the two local rifle clubs actually) and I enjoy shooting gallery rifles and .22LR, but I also have an HW77 which I use for "hunting" (it's actually pest control from my kitchen window). The logical progression is to get a couple of rimfires for target and hunting, which should happen soon I hope, especially if I can find some permissions. Living in Middlesex close to London is a bit of an issue in that respect as most peope I talk to seem to think only weirdos have firearms and partake in hunting. By the way, if anyone in the Mill Hill, Borehamwood, Barnet area needs help on a permission, I am more than willing to step in. I know there is a lot of gulf clubs, but I must admit I feel intimidated by their managers I also hope to eventually buy some gallery rifles (.44 or .45), a shotgun and a long range rifle. I'll be looking at something that could work as a good compromise between target shooting and hunting as I do enjoy both and can't afford too many firearms My latest fantasy is a .50 beowulf straight pull which would be perfect for 100 yards targets and very large pests I can't see that ever materialising though My only quarry consists of grey squirrels at the moment, as I seem to have a never ending supply of them raiding my bird feeders (I can see one eating the peanuts as I am typing). As I don't want to help pests species spread, shooting them seems like the best way of controlling them without harming other species. X
