Gaz_1989 9,539
Mine came in yesterday. I'm gutted. She has just had 3 weeks rest with a knocked toe and I was looking forward to starting again this week. Mine is miserable, ignorent, stubborn etc when in season. Just a pain in the arse with hormones. So I give her about 2 weeks to settle down. I also believe there muscles soften during and after the season and injuries are more common. However some lads still run them through. 6 weeks rest is not possible for me, she comes in season twice during the hunting season. That's 3 months of the season gone. I am looking into the pill and jab at the moment. 1 Quote Link to post

skanko 27
My bitch is in season now still working her the same as normal, she's just her usual self Quote Link to post
Maximus Ferret 2,063
If your bitch was fit before coming in season then half a dozen slips should be no problem. Keep a watch out for her "going soft" around one to two months after her heat finishes and run her only lightly then but after another month again many bitches get a big boost in muscle tone and regain their form. My own bitch is just a month out of heat and caught five good rabbits in an hour last night without any harm. I've run her lightly like this right through her heat and I'll build it up slowly now 'til she peaks. While she was right in heat she was sulky like Gaz's bitch but she's lost the moodiness now. BIG G wheton machine 1,594
as long as your only working her on her own, if you take any dogs with you they will fcuk about and ends up a nightmare Quote Link to post

col100 4
some can be a completely different dog like u don't even no her the choice is yours or just wait a couple weeks at least its at the start off the season 1 Quote Link to post

Put your bitch on Norethisterone 5mg daily, if you keep a record of her last season ie what date she broke, start giving her the pill a month before she's due to break again, then take her off it after the hunting season. I find it has no side effects with my bitches. Quote Link to post
