Ageing A Dog

Hi, bought my working bitch a few weeks who im over the moon with. Was told shes "around 2" since, someone has said she mabe older. Not realy a worry but just on my mind. Is there anyway you experienced guys would estimate the age of a dog not bought from pup? Or is it a stupid question

It's virtually impossible to say mate.

 

I used to work a dogs home and they always looked at the teeth. But I've come to learn that it means feck all. If fed a good diet containing plenty of flesh and bone then a 8 year old dog can have the teeth of a 2 year old.

 

Equally a 2 year old can have teeth covered in thick brown plaque.

Mmm yea i know what ur saying. Imo my dog i know is 3 and his teeth are starting to brown as the wiki says. But the bitch is worse not loads but more there. Id say shes simlar age with a different diet or even around 4 her temperment would surgest shes older than 2 but again all dogs are different. I would pin her between 3 and 4 tho after seeing that.
