wirral countryman 2,110
Always promised I'd only ever breed a litter of lurchers if I had at least 6 homes up front and with a deposit, there's always a good litter about if you take the time to look, too much sh*t about bred by lads that have only been at it for a couple of years and think they have a good dog, seen good marriages break up over a litter of pups, once went to buy a pup off a good lamping lad in "IRLAM" about 1980 that had a notice of eviction off the council when I got there,he had 12 pups and said take them all for 20 quid if you want,I gave him my 20 sobs and took 2 bitches, lurchers are 2 a penny, even well bred ones, both went on to make a good name for themselves. This is in no way a go at you but a dog has to be better than whats out there available before its worth breeding off (lurcherwise).I have bred a lot of terrier pups in 45yrs and will only continue to do so whilst the demand is there,in fact I have a litter on the ground now of 4,hope you sell them soon before they get you in bother,WM 5 Quote Link to post

jukel123 8,527
It' easy to be wise after the event, hindsight and all that. It's a bad time of year to shift pups as well. Spring and summer are better times. Hope your luck changes and you get good working homes for them. Quote Link to post

Popular Post Phil Lloyd 10,738
Obviously,.now the deed has been done,..I am sure that all genuine Hunting Life members wish the pups good luck on their journey through life....however,.for lads that are perhaps considering breeding from their lurchers,.please be aware,.that today,..it is a buyers market and unless you have something a bit special,.or are well known,.(or in my case,.a few pals willing to take a chance on a litter of curs),.then,.in many cases,..you are going to have real problems in securing good permanent homes for your whelps.... Do think on..... 23 Quote Link to post
