Guest baldie
Pete you wont find a scope that will take full advantage of a 17 hmr,s long range accuracy for under a ton, they dont exist mate.If thats all you can spend, go second hand. Quote Link to post
Guest pete evans
baldie i would certainly spend more than 100 quid to get max performance out of my gun, just was hoping not to have too  . let me rephrase....what is the best value scope to get max performance from my 17hmr also fixed power or variable? what mag etc pete Quote Link to post
Guest baldie
To get the most outa the 17, you need a top end mag of at least 16x, to be able to see properly, like a rabbit head or crow etc, plus you wanna see it explode I bought a hawke 6-24 x 50 the other day, for a semi auto 22 i,m building,it was £150 ,and to be honest its shite. I wouldnt buy another hawke, unless it was for an airgun, the lenses wont cut it past 50 yard. Maybe try and find one of the higher mag simmonds aetec,s or bushnell do a nice one, i think its the 6 - 18 x 50 banner, around the 200 quid mark, and they are excellent scopes, should have bought one myself Quote Link to post
J Darcy 5,871
i have just got a 2nd hand myopts for £50....lovelly bit of kit....on the hw77 i have a AGS SWAT 4-16 X 56......nice scope...cost me £200 and mint....would sell for £150....that scoipe if a real minter and works well out to any range you like.....Baldie, your right about the hawke, the total range is just cheap shit and i would not have it given......i have tried it and i do not like it at all........the optics are not good enough for deer stalking/bullets guns...ok on an airgun though......but i would rather have a nikko s/c or g/c...tried the platinum, but i didnt like them too much..the build quality was not too good .....the hw85 had the srews rattling loose all the time....so imagine what a bullet gun would be like Quote Link to post
