Hi all.I have only just joined the forum and I am very keen to own a few ferrets . Could anyoneplease point me in the right direction. Hutch size ? Hobs ? Jills? Kits ? Thank you. I am in the Derby area.

Drop me a PM when you are sorted with your housing and you have got your plans and I might be able to sort you out with either a kit from this years stock or a working adult.

I'm only 45 mins from derby and up that way quite a bit.

I like double tier hutches myself. Just personal preference. I think it keeps them a bit more occupied running from level to level.

The little single tier 3 foot rabbit hutches aren't really much good IMO.

As "the one" says, your next consideration is Hobs or Jill's and then if you choose Jill's what to do when they come in season.

One of the ferrets I was going to offer you is a big castrated hob which I rescued a few weeks ago. He is lovely natured and works well. Would be a good first ferret as low maintenance and could be housed with either Hobs or Jill's in the future.

Jill's are great but there is the ongoing debate about what to do with them when they come in season. Vasectomised hob, Jill jab or leave them.

2 Hobs can be the easy option but sometimes start scrapping when they reach maturity and need splitting up.

Good luck with whatever you decide.
