I had knocked up toes on both front feet six weeks be able to run and had one toe knocked up twice don't mater how many time as long as you give it time to callous ( bad spelling) but if you run it early you run risk of knackering it for good or even having to have it removed IMO atb

Sounds like a dislocation if it's been put back in place?

My bitch broke a back toe last season. The general consensus was to have it amputated. I didn't fact that at all. So I left it. 6 weeks cage rest, 2 weeks road walking, 1 week trotting by the bike, 1 week free running. Then lamped her. Touch wood it's been fine and she has ran some rough ground and had some hard runs.

I would give her a chance first before having it fetched off but that's just me.

My bitch had a bloody awefull dislocation on her front outside toe this time last year. The toe was 90 degrees to where it should be a swollen as hell. The vet reckoned it was broke and wanted it off asap, I said no way X-ray it and see how bad it is. Turned out it was just a bad dislocation, bandage for a couple of weeks then light lead walks building up to long lead walks by 6 weeks. Around late December I let her off the lead and a couple weeks after that lamping. Fecked my season but i wanted to be safe. So far this season no probs and ran some pretty hard ground...

Looks very similar to hers gaz but her nail was pointing up in the air fingers crossed it'll turn out alright she's been a good un so far cheers for the replys lads

Just loads of rest mate. Proper rest aswell. Crate in the house if you can. It forces them to keep the weight off it.

My bitch has just had a week in a crate with a knocked front toe. Nothing serious. Just a little knock and a bit of heat in the foot, but enough for her to hold it up.

If I left her in her kennel and run for a week she would be pacing up and down and not really resting at all.

If the toe was sticking up it may have done the tendon underneath the toe which can leave a flat toe. As Gaz says rest and luck some get ongoing problems to a greater or lesser degree, my old bitch would go lame running on hard summer ground but was fine lamping on softer ground in the winter. I'd go for some low dose metacam as it may help to reduce some of the spur growth around the joint allowing greater movement in the longer term.

Knocked up, broken, dislocated, strained tendon......whatever it is......rest is the most important thing......

And then a gradual build up back into graft.....

Ole fella once told me "when you think they're ready to go again....wait another week.....

Aye rest and anti inflammatory meds help..

I have rushed dogs back and to be honest they end up off longer ..

Its hard through the season, if its your only runner but you got to bide your time mate..

hopefully its just a knock or a bang.. Dislocations take longer and if the joints smashed its not going to fuse right..

Had a lot of toe trouble with a bitch.. Ended taking the toe off.. Lasted a few good shifts after it was healed and then the other toes started breaking with having less support..

I sit and think, maybe I should not off had the toe off.. I will never know now.. Maybe it just had bad feet, so disappointing as it has so much potential in the field..

Lay it off an see how it goes.. Got a bitch here with a horrible toe, it curls to the right.. Tendons are gone but it does not effect her running..
