moxy 617
anyone else fancy a gimps day out Count me in. Just let me know what your wearing so we don't clash. I'm thinking..............crimson. But on a serious note. It's likely to be all sewn up anyway. Probably settled over 18 holes and a wee dram. The tender process is just a niggling formality which has to take place. If any of you are lucky to get a touch. Then fair play and have a good one. Quote Link to post

Yes Moxy, i wouldnt be one bit surprised,if that was the case............Believe it or not ,the same place had a massive rat problem also, less than ten years back. The solution ?...........was to bring in an oufit from New Zealand,to deal with it ! ( disappointing to say the least ) If i remember right, the cost was around £ 600,000. Quote Link to post
moxy 617
That's shocking mate. But certainly not beyond surprise. And if a local outfit were to undertake the job.......... Well it needs no explanation. As I said. I hope. The contract goes to a deserving team. Not a profiteering franchise Quote Link to post

Not a profiteering franchise snh mink jobs on uist were taken months before they were advertised! most their jobs are taken LONG before their put up.....i was told they have to be seen to give " equal opportunity" to all. i was offerd the job due only knowing some one who knew some one but like i say turned it down after talking over it for a while Quote Link to post

If I may ask. Why did you turn the offer down? well i was talking about the policy on the hedgehogs at the time they were trapping on the island as they were to be removed..now the mink were shot with a airgun yet the hedghogs were ether depending on the time of year tagged and let go for trapping later or if close to hibernation time they were put into a nesting shed fed up looked after over the winter and then sent to the mainland to be released from a animal center (that also looks after and released back to the wild, badgers and foxes) the nice woman than said yes but within 2 weeks of being let go 70% of the hedghogs are predated on by badgers! so i and next doors keeper who i was having a meal with just sniggerd! she said have you any better sugestions as to where to release them? i looked at her and said "yes, some where between the island and the mainland" she just looked and said "hmm we will take it on board".the german chap in charge of the job was crippled with laughter. in short it was just way way to much red tape, if they gave me a wage and a shit load of traps and left me to it i would have done the job but they had a load of uni students with no trapping experience, makeing a mess of the job and falling out with the locales to the extent that no one on the island would give board to any one on the job ect ect 1 Quote Link to post
