gnasher16 30,217 Posted October 23, 2013 Report Share Posted October 23, 2013 Have to be honest the whole unlicensed scene makes me cringe everyone is out trying to be the next Lennie.....the difference is back in those days they was doing it for money,nothing else........today theres no money in it at all they,re just out to make a name for themself on the back of people like Lennie and Roy.....you see them every Friday piling into Caesars or the Troxy all pissed up ranting and raving trying to see who can growl the loudest.......the reality is it gives boxing a bad name when it has very little to do with the sport of boxing..............Mclean and Shaw were extremely tough aggressive and powerful men but in the pro game would not even of reached area title level...............theres a lot more to beating a man of equal ability than basic strength and power. 8 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

gnasher16 30,217 Posted October 23, 2013 Report Share Posted October 23, 2013 (edited) Im sure there are some tough lads and some good fights.....i dont disrespect any man whos willing to draw hands as i know the discipline it takes..........all i meant was the unlicensed thing had its day and it was done for the right reasons but those days have been and gone...........today i dont think it is done for the right reasons and unfortunately its boxing as a sport that pays the price for that. gnasher16 30,217 Posted October 23, 2013 Report Share Posted October 23, 2013 (edited) Not often i agree with Max.....but he,s absolutely right...............we can all go bashing up folk we can easily beat that proves nothing......lets see folk like that try going 10 rounds with top pros and see what they really have deep within.....a guy like that wouldnt last 2 rounds with a Tyson Fury or a David Haye. Back years ago you only fought unlicensed if you couldnt get a licence....Lennie Mclean would of made a decent domestic level pro but he couldnt get a licence,simple......today they fight unlicensed for a rep knowing they are not good enough to turn pro..............lift a few weights,get your head shaved, have a few tattoos and your half way there.......its an embarrassment to boxing and boxers in my opinion.
