Derek1962 50
Well i would,nd loose any sleep over her,i had a run in with a farmer a long time ago, something similar to your story,i was hunting on land i had permission to hunt or shoot on,i was minding my own business hunting away, terriers doing the cover and lurchers on standby, when all of a sudden out bolts a fox on the opposite side of the gorse and away it ran across the fields,i roared at my lurchers and both took off after charlie, they closed on him quick and killed him ,one problem was the field they caught the fox on i hadnt permission on and as my dogs started to retrive the fox this farmer appeared out of nowhere and followed them straight to me,he came at me shouting and roaring that i had no permission on his land and i was trespassing and he was going to call the garda and have me prosecuted for trespass,as he got closer i noticed he had a shotgun,so i apologised for my animals been on his land and i tried to explain that it was unlucky that the fox had bolted across his land,i also told him that the land i was on at that moment was his neighbour farmer and i had full permission off him to hunt it,but he just got more angry and started to shout louder,he said he had the right to shoot any dog that was on his land and i said i am sure you do but them dogs of mine are not on his land,he pointed his gun at my two lurchers and at this time i stood in front of my dogs,i am usually a quiet man and i dont go into confronations with anyone but i was getting a pain in my bollocks with him shouting at me so i told him these dogs were only doing what i thought them to do and if anyone was to blame it was me,but if he intended to shoot them ,then shoot them but he better hold onto another shot for me for i would take the shotgun of him and stick it up his arse and blown his brains out,so then i started to shout at him, said to him who the fxxk did he think he was coming on to some other mans land and throwing his weight around,i also told him he can go around threatening people with a shotgun,i just lost it with him,he shut up very quick,i roared at him as he turned away and backed off very quickly and just to finished it off i shouted at him that i also had a shotgun ,two shotguns and two rifles, and if he wanted to start a war to bring it on,so he got back into his land and kept going but every now and again he would turn around and look at me,i continued hunting and when i got back to the farmyard where the car was parked i met my the farmer that own,s the land i was hunting and i told him what happened,he told me that he had travellers on his lands coursing hares and they run a lot af his sheep all over the place and a lot of his ewes had aborted their lambs,he said he would have a word with him and he would get back to me,anyway about two months later i was hunting the same land and i came across this cranky farmer,he appoliged to me,and he told me about his sheep aborting their lambs,he also said i was more than welcome to hunt over his land anytime provided i did,nt go near where his sheep were,i told him my dogs were stock steady and would prove it to him,so later i drove into his farm and i took the dogs out of the trailer and walked across his land through his sheep,i was never so proud of my dogs that day for not once did they take any notice of his farm animals,so from that day i got his permission to hunt his land, and i hunt this area 8 times a year, its a good bit of land to hunt over 1.000 acres in total,so when your confronted by a angry farmer it pays to be nice BUT you need to stand up for yourself aswell and dont let anyone walk over you,.............its nice to be nice.
