s.e.s.k.u 1,893
What about dogs hunting up during the day taking it into the field with the lamp. ?you said ferreting though ? Dog soon learns that the action happens around you and the nets ...no need to hunt up...in the process dog begins to see you as the main focus as you provide the chance to chase .. Just my opinion ..good luck 1 Quote Link to post
Dranny GLC 112
Not so much hunting up but marking and bushing from set to set or would you av it on lead till all nets are set and ferrets to ground. ? Quote Link to post
birddog 1,354
sometimes we hunt up pushing bunnies below ground before netting up, others we net up 1st then take a walk around backnetting any still above ground, where game is scarcer and theres plenty of burrows the dog has to mark the occupied ones saves lots of work Quote Link to post

mhopton 807
Me and the wife spend a lot of time playing with the pup and ferrets so there's no wrongful killng of the ferrets so it's all day work for me going to keep him of the lamp till he is a year old he is 41/2 month now 1 Quote Link to post
Mick C. 229
Good recall is the key. Once that's in place you can do a bit of both. Ferreting general mooching to start then a bit of lamping when hes matured a bit more Edited October 21, 2013 by Mick C. Quote Link to post
