gelert 1
i had to have a supervisor to take me out with a .222 so after 2 months i told them i'd been out doing this that and the other and they took it off, still the restriction on taking out a 243!!! Quote Link to post
old man 0
i had to be supervised when i got my 243 , after a couple of months he wrote a letter to Devon and Cornwall constabulary stating i was a safe and sensible shot , within three weeks i had the restriction taken off my licence . Guest baldie
I,ve actually "mentored" someone with a .243, but only because it was a grant of a ticket, he had the land, and the deer, but wasn,t willing to fight it in court. If the applicant has suitable land, with suitable quarry, they CANNOT refuse it, and what they are doing is ILLEGAL, and well they know it.This is another restriction by the back door, and by us complying with it, we are helping them make another law. Quick tip lads, if the police refuse what you ask for, and you know you are right, tell them you want it in writing, from the chief of police who signs the licenses.....they WILL back down.Remember, they are public servants, paid by YOU, and have to obey exactly the same laws as you. This mentoring lark, is to remove responsibility from them, and put it on the mentor. When i did it for my mate, i put on the letter that i was in no shape or form, going to be responsible for his future actions. jamie g 17
ive got to be mentored on my 22lr and 17 hmr which i think is a joke. im very safe with my rifles and thats not just me who thinks this ive been told by other people to. so that means if i never went shooting with my friend who as had a fac for years and years. and just went on my own i wouldnt have been given the fac in the 1st place WHAT A LOAD OF RUBBISH THE POLICE HAVE MADE UP ON THIS LAW Quote Link to post
James@Scarborough 0
They've gone completely mad down south by the sound of it. I got .22lr and .17 HMR on my OPEN ticket instantly. About 4 months later got .222, and 2 months after that .243. All with no restrictions, and no questions asked. I feel sorry for those guys who are strugling. Quote Link to post
