Dan Davies 7
Ah! Would of been good! I can't seem to catch it! I've tried it all over the place next to chicken pen, along fence lines and fairly open! Quote Link to post
nod 285
Got to be a run where they are coming in Quote Link to post
socks 32,253
A trick to catching a Wiley chicken killer is as follows ... Put all the chickens away at night except one which you put in an open fronted box which is placed inside the chicken run with he open end up against the fence ... Then on the outside of the fence place the fox trap with the back up against the mesh directly backing onto the chicken box so that it looks like there is a mesh tunnel leading directly to the chicken ... Fox goes into trap thinking its getting the chicken and bang there's your fox ............. 1 Quote Link to post
Dan Davies 7
Nod you would of thought there was an obvious way onto the estate however there really isn't... There is only one suspect run but I'm not sure it's used! Socks that sounds brilliant ill give it a try! Thanks mate 1 Quote Link to post
air gun ant 1,666
Any joy dan? Quote Link to post
Dan Davies 7
Nothing, another chicken dead half way across the orchard! Problem is there's a lot a flowers and vegetables being grown on the estate, and the chickens are fairly close to them, so you don't stand a chance of lamping it because it's got cover till it's fairly close Quote Link to post
04fox8 168
Have you tried setting up a camera? Find out what time it's visiting, allow a while before hand and set up and wait out for it. Have had success with this aproach in the past. Not saying it will arrive next night at 8:15 because it was there last night, but it will (could) be around the same 'ish' time. Worth a try. 1 Quote Link to post
paulus 26
Foxes tend to be creatures of habit, understanding their routine is often the key to controlling them. Quote Link to post
bobcullen79 1,495
Is it lawful to make and bait a short tunnel and put a snare each end? Quote Link to post
air gun ant 1,666
i think the fox would be approaching the bait to slow and cautiosly for the snare to be effective bob, thats why you usually set them on runs so the animals hits it with some speed. unless it was a coller u'm kind of jobbie but a normal spring snare would be illegal to use Quote Link to post
StephenWalsh 73
Sounds like a collarum is just the job then!?!? Quote Link to post
