stabba 10,745
I've noticed recently that quite a few pups have been advertised as born from show winners. Now they say working ability of both parents is 100% so my question is this. Why do they feel the need to mention show winning?. Personally i don't care about show ability just so long as the parents do what's required in the field. Granted if the parents are show winners then the pups must look lovely eh. Does being from show winning stock add value i wonder?. This is not a dig at anyone or a gripe just something i've noticed of late and thought i'd mention it.Your views are most welcome . atb stabba 4 Quote Link to post

BORDERSCOT 3,816
I wouldn't take my dog in a show ring, but initially encouraged my wife to show him. She took it far too seriously and was a terrible loser, in the end I couldn't listen to the torrent of abuse she would have liked to tell everyone, such as 'but his eyes are so beautiful not like that frog eyed mutt that won...they must be friends etc. lol. morton 5,368
I own dogs that have won classes and shows,id be embarrased to mention the fact if it came to selling a mutt,a working lurcher should be advertised on its ability in the field, alas many now are bred to fulfill the desires of the showing community with little regard to anything else.Fat birds and mushes parading pretty jukels around shows and then milking the price value of the resultant progeny to the nuggets who put form before function, is becoming the norm now. 2 Quote Link to post

Sambo-H 52
Well to be honest sire of my bitch did every thing I expect of him and so does his daughter and have people to back this up, just for a laugh one day I showed the sire of bitch to win a good show round my way, then when he had gone, gave him to a bloke now a good friend for FREE as long as he looked after the dog properly and came back to me if didn't want, now show the bitch which she has done well over the years and is something to do in the summer months now plans are set to have a litter out of her as she is the best bitch ever I have owned, pups won't be expensive at all.so to own good looking dogs that excel at there job, wat more could you ask for, don't tar everyone with the same brush 1 Quote Link to post
