Parvo Pup 1 year on

Recommended Posts

Some of you may remember we had a litter of lurcher pups last September. Unfortunately 6 got parvo, we nursed them every hour with antibiotics and fluids for 7 days straight as the vet didnt have a quarintine unit, we managed to save two, one of which we kept.

She has turned into a right little diamond, she has had 2 races in the puppy racing at gamefairs and has come 2nd in the finals of both. She has had 2 trips out on the lamp and caught both times and to top it all off she caught her first mutant rabbit a few weeks ago in the daytime.

She went from this (taken 2 weeks into her recovery)

Jim do you know if the dog would be less likely to get parvo again as he survived it when young, has he built up immunity to it or if he was not injected be just as suseptable as any other dog.just wondering like.

Lovely bitch: a dash of Saluki in there?

My old girl who had meningitis as a pup is the same with me: total trust and a real bond: she's nearly 10 years old now and shouldn't have lived, let alone been a mother twice!

Yes she is a smooth collie/saluki/greyhound

Are your dogs loose from time to time? The vet said that he'd never quite recover fully but it wouldnt stop him running and maintaining a healthy life.

All our dogs walk out together everyday and they are off the lead all the time, unless we are at a gamefair

She caught her first mutant rabbit 2 weeks ago in the daytime, was so proud of her.

We asked our vet this at the time and he said they have the same chances of catching parvo again as any other dog unless vaccinated (and she is vaccinated) but yes her immune system is a bit stronger
