Running Dog

Recommended Posts

Seen loads of dogs get cramp including my own. Only seen one hit the deck with it. They usually just hold their leg up and you can actually see the spasm of the muscle.

Ok Maybe more like a footballer than a bodybuilder but it's the same basic principle. A footballer can train all week whilst improving strength and fitness but they need at least a day off after a match. And that's not due to cardio it's muscle fatigue

You never run a dog with an injury, simple as that. But some of the best dogs have guts to burn and will hide it from you. In other words they will try their hearts out when they're physically not a

It's not about the dog getting to much work , it's about the dog man giving it to much work ,you need to know your animal ,I've known to many lads which can't help themselves and give their dog anothe

all depends on what sort of work the dog has done on each night you might give him say 30 runs or more then id give a day or so of but if only a hand full of runs then they be good to go

So basically if you're not pushing your dog anywhere near it's limits there's no reason you couldn't work it night after night after night. But give it a real long night of hard graft and it would benefit more from a break than it would another night of the same.

Depends on the individual dog,, there all different and have different abilitys,,,, I'd love to see a dog that puts 50 in the bag do it 3 nights on the bounce,,, I'm not saying there's not a few out there that MIGHT do it,,,, but they will be few and far between ,,,,,I remember Andy telling me about old bulpa doing 9 consecutive nights...that's a fecking tall order.

Mine last week ran on a Monday,, and killed 63,, then ran on Thursday and killed 43,, befor picking up a knock ending the night,,,, now in all honesty that would be enough for this bitch,,,, I could proberbly get 3 nights out of her at 20 or 30 ish each night,,, or better still two nights off between sessions ,,,so not quite 3 in aweek,,,

caled did 43,101, & 41on 3 consecutive nights so it can be done

What does everyone think about running dog repeatedly over 2-3 nights?

nout rong with it if fed the right food, work hard on conditioning the dog be for hand.plenty of rest and it can be dun over and over but you do have to now [bANNED TEXT] to say time for a rest to night pal.

184 in 3 nights and still wanting more.

What people have to understand there's big difference in a dog being fit and running fit. A dog needs built up for running 3 nights on the trot.

If it's not running fit then how can someone say there running dog is fit?

A few lads say "there is fit, and there is lamp fit".

Well if your lamp dog isn't lamp fit then you can't really call it fit can you? :hmm:

imho a lot depends on the style of the dog. i would imagine a collie type would have a greater chance than say a whippet type both have totally different styles one suitable for sustained constant work loads and the other for short fast sessions

imo thats why whippets wont do the same numbers as the lurchers before anyone starts im not knocking whippets

I agree but I reckon most whippets could do more than 80% of lads would ask them to.

I hear loads saying "would a whippet run all night" then they decide to get a lurcher and take it out for half an hour on the lamp
