You never run a dog with an injury, simple as that. But some of the best dogs have guts to burn and will hide it from you. In other words they will try their hearts out when they're physically not a

It's not about the dog getting to much work , it's about the dog man giving it to much work ,you need to know your animal ,I've known to many lads which can't help themselves and give their dog anothe

all depends on what sort of work the dog has done on each night you might give him say 30 runs or more then id give a day or so of but if only a hand full of runs then they be good to go

Run it, run it and run it again.....that's what they're there for.....if they're fit, well fed and well rested between nights out just get 'em going.....

Mine regularly lamp 3,4,5 + nights and work for long periods in the daytime between lamping sessions.....

The curs will be the first to let you know when they're not up to it.

IMO knowing when a good one's had enough is one of the secrets to being a dogman.

You can lamping your dog repeatedly every night ..picking up a couple of rabbits..but if going for numbers then 2'3 nights. all depends on the land ..grass fields won't make a dogs feet and nails so saw ..yet the land we run clay and stoney fields make the dogs nails and feet saw after a few nights..

My little bitch is very fit, but I'm sure she wouldn't be all that on the third night. I've taken plenty of people lamping with there "fit dogs" and they don't last a couple of hours. When I go lamping I go all night, run all game and plenty of them, no questions asked. I don't think even my little half saluki bitch would be able to do 3 nights on the trot with the way I lamp. 2 I'm sure she could manage but 3 would just be pushing her too far, a days rest and she would be ready to go again.

Edited to say by all game I mean rabbits and rats, obviously ;)

Every dog has it's limits. When we go lamping we only really stop when the dogs can't take anymore. Even on the second night of that their form drops. If you run your dog 3,4,5 nights on the trot to it's limits you won't be doing it any good. Mammals muscles all work the same. If they don't get enough recovery period you get muscle wastage. Ask any body builder

A dog running is cardiovascular. Not quite ripping the muscles like a body builder does.

I don't think we were talking about running a dog until it drops. I certainly wouldn't want to do that 3/4/5 nights running.

Lol my bitch is by far one of the fittest I've seen, not blowing my own trumpet but she has some good proven blood running through her vain's. And I highly doubt she could do 3 nights on the trot the way I LAMP. Edited by Con6212

Depends on the individual dog,, there all different and have different abilitys,,,, I'd love to see a dog that puts 50 in the bag do it 3 nights on the bounce,,, I'm not saying there's not a few out there that MIGHT do it,,,, but they will be few and far between ,,,,,I remember Andy telling me about old bulpa doing 9 consecutive nights...that's a fecking tall order.

Mine last week ran on a Monday,, and killed 63,, then ran on Thursday and killed 43,, befor picking up a knock ending the night,,,, now in all honesty that would be enough for this bitch,,,, I could proberbly get 3 nights out of her at 20 or 30 ish each night,,, or better still two nights off between sessions ,,,so not quite 3 in aweek,,,
