Nuetered workers

Recommended Posts

Hi i'm looking for some advice from those ferreters that use or have used both whole and fixed hobs.

Do you think it hinders their performance or desire to work being fixed ?

we're not looking to breed and have just picked up another lil hob, my Husband has been told that neutering them makes them less effective hunters ?

not knowing the answer i figured i'd come to the experts lol..

I never get any ferrets done because if they turn out a cracking worker you cant breed from them and a pound to a penny a few years down the line you will want too .

on another forum it seems the debate that you cant actually BREED working ability into a ferret.. ie.. breed good workers and the result will be good workers...

is this the case ? or as you say... perhaps saving the poor boy from the chop in the event you should want a few more of his get?

what do you all think of the same case being made for the jills ? .... spay them or the jab for a few years till you decide you dont want to breed them ? just keep em seperated ?

NOT picking fights here guys .. just wanting to make a good informed decision.

ive had all mine done 3 hobs 3 jills. i dont think it makes no difference. either pets or workers..

Mine are all spayed, because I dont want to breed from them (Never done that and dont want to run the risk) and I think its too risky to leave them in season  They seem to be fine workers though. :D
