bobcullen79 1,495
Out this morning with the dogs and camera when I found these on an oak. Anyone Identify? I also got a good picture of a shrub almost completely covered in moss and lichen, but its getting a bit emotional trying to resize..

bobcullen79 1,495
You learn something new every day i would of said a infection on the plant That's sort of what it is, only with an pupae inside. Its a reaction to being impregnated by a wasp and the chemicals make the leaf produce weird formations that the insect develops in. Same thing is going on with what we used to call "oak apples" as kids, them round things on a oak - not the acorns. Years ago my granddad cut one open for me, and there a little maggot in them, which will turn into some type of gall wasp..
