Because I believe that they thought that there children would be perfectly safe. As did there friends around the dinner table. It's a matter of choice and it's turned out the wrong choice for them, I'm sure if they could do it again they would do it different. I'm not defending there choice I'm just pointing out that I think they've had enough mud thrown at them. Seems to me it's went from child neglect to murderers as the Chinese whispers went on. gibbo1973 187
what they did was out of this world to leave the kids alone ,but there are devices and at that hotel a night crèche why did nt they plug a intercom in and have the remote(good ones have a range of 200m to 300m ) with them then they may have caught the b*****d ,he could of been in the night before when the were crying yes they are devastated but whats to say all bloody 3 kids never went that night they should of done whats best for the kids not themselves ie on the wine and food even the friends want shafting for it they were so lucky they never had one taken

Keeps 403
http://www.nspcc.org.uk/help-and-advice/for-parents-and-carers/guides-for-parents/home-alone/home-alone_wda90645.html http://www.nspcc.org.uk/help-and-advice/for-parents-and-carers/guides-for-parents/home-alone/home-alone-pdf_wdf90656.pdf Read the NSPCC's brochure and decide for yourselves... are the McCann's responsible for putting their children at significant risk of injury or suffering, ie Child Neglect? They are both doctors, supposedly intelligent people, they should know better than to do what they did! I know of parents who have been prosecuted for Child Neglect for leaving children much older than the McCann's children home alone, during the day. I can't understand why this has been overlooked and ignored by the police.
stabba 10,745
The fact is it wasnt a sober decision when they left the kids alone the night of Maddie's so called abduction. They had been drinking in the apartment before they even went to the tapas bar ffs. Was the apartment door locked? yes no yes no ..make your fcukin mind up...just a friggin shame they can't seem to come up with a story they can stick to.
fireman 10,919
I'd have a good bet plenty of folks on here got left on their own on holiday while the parents slipped off down the Butlins bar or the camp site saturday night sing song, but are to worried about what others would say .In fact how many of you were left out sleeping in your prams on the front lawn or let to play out alone when you were little ?,as for this thread,to many rightous comments coming from children with crap parents i'd say .
mexlad 189
I think they were wrong to leave them alone in the apartment, that's my opinion, people agree or disagree is not relevant, what is is there's a three year old little girl been snatched from an empty apartment at night, now Im sure she would be still be there if her parents or some sort of babysitter was there. albert64 1,882
I've left the kids in the house well I've been out but I can tell you for free that every window and the front door was locked and the only way someone would get in would be to walk past us in the back garden! And even then we still check everything's ok with them. Like fcuk would I even consider going out of the confines of my garden and leaving my kids in the house ! And that's my choice because I believe prevention is cure So it's an impossibility that someone could force your front door, sneak in and away with your child mate...... I'm afraid not, it could be done! And then how would it make you feel when the media and general public decide to turn there attentions on you and brandish you a bad parent? Albert......your constantly using this 'go on the piss' like they f****d off to some local nightclub. They were not far away and checked regular but it probably took minutes to steal that child and they will have been watched. What gets me is if Gerry and Kate had been asleep in bed and Madeline had been taken it would be classed as a kidnapping and that's it and they would have everyone's deepest sympathys. Because they chose( as did there other 2 friends) to leave there children, in a locked room , sit a stones throw away and some dirty f*****g peado decides to take her they are now tarnished and abused by most. i assume your not a parent then lab what they did was pure selfishness simple as where the f*ck have I constantly gone on about being on the piss ok then they were having a little drinky phoo's for a f*cking few hours, that better and as for being a stones throw away you must be some skimmer mate I haven't persecuted them I said it was preventable, unfortunately for that little girl they put themselves before their children not just that night many nights, perhaps that's why their saying it was a planned abduction accidents can happen and we have no control over what others do, this is not a nice world we live in you think the worst and hope it doesn't happen but leaving 3 babies alone is inexcusable

whippet 99 2,613
Am glad to be a part of a site with so many fantastic parents and caring people. Who live there lives perfectly every day i admire you all same old ,same old .......everyone on the net got perfect morals , perfect families,...and perfect dogs ..... now my lads are 9 and 12 years old and I take the dogs across the field and if something like this happened while I was away , I would be in the same perdictament......but this could happen when there outside playing .......but that's ok...... ive heard different views and some say its no different than putting your kids to bed and going down stairs for a drink and meal.......a lot other mixed different opionions but to be honest I don't know what too make of it all.........too lock a child in a room to me is wrong and if the kids weren't in danger where they were sleeping then there would be no need to lock the door........but for there own actions of locking the child in the room proves that they were in danger......be honest with out knowing the real truth of circumstances its hard too evaluate and make decision............but I smell a rat when it comes to the parents , ...........something not right ,.......but time will reveal ,.hopefully
Malt 379
Am glad to be a part of a site with so many fantastic parents and caring people. Who live there lives perfectly every day i admire you all I'm glad there seem to be so many sensible people here who place such value in the well-being of their kids.. I don't think anybody should be called for voicing their disapproval at a fellow parent leaving their young kids behind alone in an apartment in a foreign country.. ..and as for Gnasher's post about April Jones, my first words out loud after hearing her age and she'd gone missing were something like, "What the f**k was a young girl of that age doing out playing unsupervised, especially at that time of night.."
