Some Good And Alittle Not So Good News On Permission

Recommended Posts

I got some good news on permission today, pdf file with alot of fields i can now ferret. I had asked the land owner before about using dogs to work alongside ferrets while out, explained the benifits of having the dog etc, here was the response

I am not particularly comfortable with having the dogs used for purpose on the property. This brings me to a new stage of liability which i cannot authorise

I know theres been some chancers poaching before. Cant say am not disapointed as i plan to work a dog with ferrets in future but i have to respect the land owners rules, ive taken a decent amount of rabbits from previous fields hes let me ferret before, ill just have to stick at it, do a good job and hopefully things might change later.

Anyone else had similar problems before, any advice?

A number of years ago I was approached by a Keeper for ferreting on a estate which had a large Rabbit population.

his one condition was no dogs, I turned him down.

As having a dog with me, and watching it work, is for me what ferreting is all about,

and couldn't face loading the ferreting gear into the car, and leaving your loyal tyke at home.

I know there are a lot of ferreters who don't use a dog, but this is not for me.

Not much fun without dogs... 90% of the reason i ferret is to watch the dogs....

Have to agree BPR didn't have a dog for the back end of last season and I didn't enjoy myself as much. The dog for me is the entertainment and the company.

Suppose it take some land owners time to let the dog on
