Stabs 3
The best bit about the eighties was December 31st 1989 at 11.59:59 secs when the 90s started . the eighties was full of poofders walking about in Ski Jumpers listening to Duran Duran and all that shite with silly Hair cuts. the eighties went down hill when the Mod and Skinhead movment started to fade and the New Romantic boys dressed like girls with flicks hit the seen, I'm f****d if I did!! it was still Brogues, flight jackets, Jeans and Fred Perry's for me .... We all wanted to be like the older lads and we craved burgundy sta-press and docs. I begged my mam for a skinhead and boots and she relented when I was six! Fair play to her though, she got me the ten-holer jobs! I wasn't mich interested in music from the time as I was listening to all 60's and late 70's gear. The Dance Craze live two tone album, Purple Hearts, Secret Affair, Squire, Costello, Squeeze, The Jam (beoke my heart when they split) of course and even Merton Parkas....although You Need Wheels is atrocious listening back to it The 's music that really pricked my ears up was stuff like The Housemartins and Billy Bragg and The Smiths....there really wasn't a lot else for me until The Stone Roses came along. Does anyone remember Grifters? You needed arms like popeye to pull a wheelie on one! Raliegh must have had a load of scaffold they didn't know what to do with and they decided on a prototype BMX was the best use of it! f**k they were heavy!

"Dance Craze Live Album" . I still have it in the loft!! iI think this is the one with a Loafa on the front and the two tone trouser or socks, I can't remember now but it had some classics on there. I saw the specials, secret affair and a two tone girly support band in 79, I remember hearing them do stereotype live and what a track , the best part of the Gig was when Terry Hall called people up to come and dance on the stage and all hell broke loose with the bouncers , what a night mate. Beleive it or not I still listen to some of the Specials! the second album "More Specials" is still a classic. you won't beleive this either but I still have my old Black Harrington jacket from when I was a kid and the old gennuine red tag Levi . I remember the old Griffters and even earlier the old Chopper bike , My parents would never buy me one when I was a kid so I ended up getting a old frame and sticking cowhorns on it and loved it until I got my Yammy FS1E .. I remember a lad a school getting a hiding cos he bought an Adam Ant single Stabs you're the man mate . what a shame you wasn't closer we could start a convention and get some proper movment back into the youth of today . "Nite Klub - The Specials" what a track. and The Beat I also liked alot!! I remember they did a track called "Get A Job" I loved it cause at the time I didn't have one, "Stand Down Margaret" by the Beat did it for me big time too. Looking through the list of tracks Stabs on the Album I can Honestly say there ain't any I don't like. do you remember a track called "Time For Action" I'm not sure who it was now who sung it? I think its either The Lamberettas or Secret Affair but it always brought the house down at any bashes we went too aswell as a few Northern Soul Numbers . I have a Old checked Ben Sherman short sleeved which is a bit small now in a 36 chest , My lad will have it aswel as the Old Levi, If you go on Ebay Stabs and bang in "Ben Sherman" and selct shirts there's some classics come up, you've got me going now mate and I want one .... When I met the Missus she had been out with all sorts of poofders in Ski Jumpers and silly hair cuts and poncy shoes, I'm surprised she took to me as I was nothing like these knobs, Her problem was she spent too long with them gay fuckers and only realised what proper lads was about when she met me .. Stabs 3
Mate...Time for Action was Secret Affair....and it's a beauty Their first album was an absolute classic and I still love it. Saw The Lambrettas in Chatham in 1994....they weren't up to much Saw Stiff Little Fingers in Brixton in 91 I think.....with Bruce Foxton on bass and they were amazing I've still got the first Benny I ever bought and it still fits me I bought it in 1987 and it was when they were as rare as rocking horse shit. You had to go The Cavern in Ganton Street in Soho (just off Carnaby Street) back then to get them but you can buy them anywhere these days. The Cavern was where Merc was...but that's moved onto Carnaby Street proper these days. They made these awful cheap suits that we used to buy too....we thought we looked like the dogs bollocks though bit of tonic or a bit of hounds tooth and we thought we were god None of us could afford a crombie until we were older but we always wanted one. I remember when I got my first sheepskin.....it was like winning the lottery. I bought it off a mates dad who bought it to go to football in the late 60's and never wore it. Cost me a fiver and it kept me warm on my Lambretta. Got in a scrap with some crusty fuckers one night and they opened up my forehead and covered it in claret......it was ruined
