they were a good lamp those blue eyes ..once we moved onto the motor bike battery we found the best battery carriers were a gallon plastic jack cut the top of put some BT rope in for a carrying strap

Rectangular black plastic moulded thing bought from a halfords type car spares shop. Ran it from an old motorcycle battery.

A Qbeam with a yusa motorbike batterry encased in a wooden carrying box thats in the pic was a lot better than the swinford lamps all encased in a metal box from the 70s just a feker [BANNED TEXT] the

Blue eye lamps where great, nice tight beam, remember once when my yuasa battery packed in,so walked back to the mk1 escort van and took the battery off,put it in a rucksack and carried on,them where the days!!

Did it start when you put it back on? I started with the square plastic thing from the local car spares, and a 12 v motorbike battery, not great but it worked, then I got a job in a place that had one or two sealed alarm batteries knocking about :whistling: no more holes in my coat or jeans, well not fro acid anyway, as one bloke said earlier I remember getting the lazerlight from Johnson fieldsports, that really did transform things for me, nowadays use the smaller lighter shooterlight.

I knew it wouldnt,so walked home, put the battery on charge and took it on the bike next day,lol..Forgot,it wasnt the escort van,it was a bedford ha :D

What lamps was you using back in the late 70s early 80s?

The first time I went lamping' way back in 1979, my friend was using a made

Up lamp on a bit of old broomstick as the handle, an old car headlight and a doorbell

Pusher as the on off switch. We lamped the local golf course and the bitch caught 3 rabbits.

From that day forward I was hooked, but was not allowed to have my own dog till I was about 16. But looking back over the years, and what with all the different types of lamps we used then, up to today's lamps we use now. Lamps like the square brinkman quartz halogen 50.000 cp , but even just at that power it got quite a few bunny stews on the go.

Do you remeber lamps called the q beam, or the blue max the black max, and what a lamp the nite tracker was with the pistol trigger which was made by khoeler I think bright star, and another one was the blue spot, what was your favorite. If only we could go back, great times for me, and probably a lot of the lampers on the hunting life. PS happy lamping cheers.

Wipac, lens taken out,cut down bean tin taped in the middle, best lamp ive ever used, ive had plenty of modern ones but none with a tighter and longer beam, just can,t find the motors with them on now.

After car spotties with motorbike batteries (tin can cowl an a ton of tape), we got a 'Clear Eye' then a 'Blue Eye'.

The hunt was always on for decent army bags too, those batteries seen a lot of good bags an good coats off...

they were a good lamp those blue eyes ..once we moved onto the motor bike battery we found the best battery carriers were a gallon plastic jack cut the top of put some BT rope in for a carrying strap and pack the sides with card or paper and use grey gas tape to hold it in .the acid still got all over the back of what ever you was wearing though

We must have had exactly the same carriers then too Brookie, as thats what we did with the same gallon jacks. If we touched lucky, old seat belt instead of rope.
