What lamps was you using back in the late 70s early 80s?

The first time I went lamping' way back in 1979, my friend was using a made

Up lamp on a bit of old broomstick as the handle, an old car headlight and a doorbell

Pusher as the on off switch. We lamped the local golf course and the bitch caught 3 rabbits.

From that day forward I was hooked, but was not allowed to have my own dog till I was about 16. But looking back over the years, and what with all the different types of lamps we used then, up to today's lamps we use now. Lamps like the square brinkman quartz halogen 50.000 cp , but even just at that power it got quite a few bunny stews on the go.

Do you remeber lamps called the q beam, or the blue max the black max, and what a lamp the nite tracker was with the pistol trigger which was made by khoeler I think bright star, and another one was the blue spot, what was your favorite. If only we could go back, great times for me, and probably a lot of the lampers on the hunting life. PS happy lamping cheers.

same really, spot lamp borrowed off someones car an old phone handle doorbell and lots of tape to hold it all together ...

we also taped the lens up to leave a small square to narrow the beam ..

and we used an old motorbike battery and had most clothes burnt away by the acid

I was a bit to young to be lamping in the 70's....but. when I got into it, we used lr9 lamps which were modified with handles made out of copper pipe, and a doorbell switch and there was another lamp you could buy from argos or somewhere like that, it was a rectangle shape, didn't have a fancy name, wasn't the best either, but was ok just to get by, I also remember the nite tracker, I also modified a cibbie super Oscar rally car lamp, now that was a good lamp, with a very good tight beam on it.......now I use the lightforce striker,

yes that was another thing we did.....tape the lens up to try and tighten the beam, and I do remember the acid batteries rotting your clothes and the bag you carried them in....... we've come a fair way now I think, lighter lithium batteries, sealed lead acid batteries, and better lamps.......

lucas lr9 and 14 and then we used to nick a cibie of the front bumper on the old artics when they were parked up .and a small car battery. in a rucksack .

Another here who used a car spotlight which I managed to get from a scrapyard. It was a right find at the time. In fact I found three. Powered by a motorbike battery which was housed in a shoulder bag made of belting from the pit. The beltmen at the pit used to make them for us. Those were the days

Still got the old rectangle thing from Argos in my shed,, mostly we used cibie Oscar ,, I could never afford those early blue eye lamps,,but those Colman lamps were quite good I remember... Then around 1990 the lazier light came out,, and I started using them ,,,, I knitted 50 purse nets and swaped them with johnsons field sports for the lazier light

Yeh I rember seeing a few battery bags made from pit belting,,, in fact those pit stockyards. We're like supermarkets for some lads...lol

 

I was a fecker for knicking my old mums handbags that had a shoulder strap,,,bit gay looking but they worked well with a motorbike battery

A Qbeam with a yusa motorbike batterry encased in a wooden carrying box thats in the pic was a lot better than the swinford lamps all encased in a metal box from the 70s just a feker [BANNED TEXT] the bulb went as it was a sealed beam unit.

I was doing that Up to two yrs ago,never had a properly rigged set up until my Mrs bought me one

first factory made lamp was a coleman good lamp but I didn't have it long as some prick of a farmer took it off me ,I was about 15 ish at the time so went and bought the blue eye glare free one which was ok ...

then moved onto the lazerlite which I couldn't get on with then moved onto the striker and stayed with them ...
