Bipod Opinions On Various Brands Please?

Hi, ive been looking over different brands of bipod, there seems to be a fair few to choose from on ebay (which most likely wouldn't last very long),, I know alot of you may be inclined to say buy cheap, buy twice! Which yes I do agree with upto a certain point, but surely not all of the budget range a really that s***t are they? There must be cheap hard wearing products as well? Ive just come across the range of buffalo river brand from optics warehouse! Putting aside the Harris and deben bipods which of the other brands have people come across and what issues if any had to be addressed?

Swiss arms

 

Chinese versapod copy with a picittiny rail fitting that fits to a sling stud

 

Very light, very well made.

I have 3 Harris bipods and a versapod, but the Swiss arms equals them all, cept maybe the Harris swivel. But it runs it close.

 

If you can find one, buy it

So this type of bipod fits directly to standard sling studs? Ive seen alot of the chinese import b.pods and have been kinda like..Mmmmm cheap but whats the quality like...ill try find one of these you have said abt.

I had a Harris copy by Deben. The pads worked loose and had to be stuck on with a decent adhesive. Then the pins that go into the stud fell out, they were braised back in place. Then the spring came off the leg when I was lowering the leg and nearly broke my hand. It went in the bin. We bought a Harris to replace it.

 

The difference in build quality is amazing, remember Harris bipods come with a lifetime warranty. Save the hassle, buy a Harris!

The Harris bipods do seem to be most favoured and I can see why (ref the apparent build quality and lifetime warranty), with any of the extending leg bipods, is it just personal preference for which size to choose?

Have to save a little longer for a harris though.. :0)

I've had an Edgar Brothers bipod and an Harris bipod.

 

I honestly believe that the Edgar Brothers bipod was much better quality wise, and cheaper too!

6-9 inch legs are only useful if shooting off a bench or bowling green, in the real world, 9-13 inch are usually considered the best height

Maybe I should check out the edgar bros range as not thought look as of yet...and thanks for the advice on the leg height.

I spent 90 odd squid on a harris bipod and don't use it! lol

nice bit of kit tho.

if I did more static hunting or scopecam I would use it more. im not in any rush to sell it I will just lose money on it and then have to fork out again if I ever have need for one. keep it in the cupboard until that time lol

I have started shooting from stick now, used them for stalking for ages and now use them with teh air rifle as well.

 

I have a drawer full off bipods.

I use the ones from JS ramsbottom about £25 , had the one for the past4 years never ever a problem and easy to take off and on.

Morning villaman,, I looked at the js Ramsbottom ones,, the price tag attached to them seem reasonable, was looking at the £39 one after having been told that 6-9" wld be too small... not to say if I saw a cheaper harris about id probably go for it.

But due to funds id probably go for what my pocket can afford.

Gun needs a service first and foremost! :0)

A bipod was not something I never planned on adding to my gun but over time ive wondered could one be useful...I do get on fine without as thats all ive known (not having one),, could be time for change.
