jonnygray 139
just done a quick search and a site gundogbreeders has 1378 breeders registered, if each of these breeders only has one litter a year and only has 5 pups thats 6890 pups per year, is there really a market for that many new gundogs per year at least?? and thats only one site. i expect the majority of these pups will be at a price much greater than MB or DH charge for their pups and I expect that a great majority end up in pet homes as will MB and DH pups. whats wrong with people who actually want a lurcher or a whippet as a pet rather than a worker??? at least going to either of these breeders they are getting a healthy dog that they know the history and the breeding of. I know of quite a few people who have whippets and lurchers as pets and would never dream of working them and putting their dogs through what i put mine through, and I can also tell you that these dogs are happy, well fed, well looked after and want for nothing!!!! if MB and DH and I have owned dogs from both lines (that both worked to a standard that made me happy enough to feed and keep them) wish to and can make a living from breeding these lines good luck to them! Just to add to this has anyone ever had or heard of any dog from either of these breeders that has had any major inherent health defects or problems?? I never have and the amount of pups that are turned out must if nothing else show responsible breeding from healthy and well thought out lines!! Just my opinion by the way im sure some of you will have your own! Edited October 12, 2013 by jonnygray Quote Link to post
