air gun ant 1,666
I bought some bull bars for my defender a while ago cheap and decided to leave them of until after the mot, now it's passed I'm gonna stick them back on but I seem to remember something about them being banned years ago? I only want them on for the lamp guards really but they do make the whole vehicle look better lol and I've seen a few still driving round with them on? Can anybody help? C Hall 552
I don't think they were banned from being on the motor there was just new regulations on how the companys could make them size shape etc, phasing them out as such. 04fox8 168
I had a 'full' bull bar on my old landy for years. Never any problems. Took it off when I did it up, and realise now that it didn't look as good as I thought it did all that time. Bought one large Upside down U shaped thing with brackets for the spotlights. Looks much better now. If I was you, I'd just buy the light guards. The plastic / powder coating splits and comes off in a relatively short time, and they end up looking c**p! At least with the light guards, you can buy galvanised, or just chuck them and replace when they start looking tired. If I knew what I was doing, I'd post some photos up for comparison, but I'm a computer dafty!

So you mean they don't look super cool!!!!!!!! Sod it there on again now lol The plastic / powder coating splits and comes off in a relatively short time, and they end up looking c**p! That's what they were like when I bought them, chipped of what I could and painted black with hammerite (they only cost £20 so I wasn't to bothered) Cheers ant
Chr15j 59
Afaik if originally on car then fine, don't think you can retrofit?
PLEDGEY 496
Some insurance companies might see it as a modification if it's an after market add on. Always check with your insurance company to make sure. If you have a prang and they send some one out to look at your motor, they'll look for any thing to stop them paying out. I've just had some Insa Turbo Dakar M/T's put on my Hilux. I'm off work next week and going to pop in and tell broker the change I've made just to be safe.
