Whippet Pup Thread

Very clicky on here ....so many experts and wannabes ! Lads ripping the piss who not so long ago didn't have a clue themselves ...but they forget some of the dumb posts they have started in the past lol but one season later know it all ....

The original post was a piss take.

No one has taken the piss out of a newbie or bullied anyone as people are implying.

In truth, I don't think it's just this one particular thread that's being referred to. It's just the place as a whole.

You yourself were quite vocal on the whippet pup thread and even converted 200 yards into swimming pool lengths. (Feck knows why you did that!) You're hardly the Old man of the woods, are you? Do you think you've got enough experience to pass comment on other peoples dogs or their hunting techniques?

I think that's peoples point, the inexperienced criticising others when they are only repeating what they've heard and read. These people haven't seen enough or done enough to be able to have there own opinion.

This isn't a criticism Gaz but you had to ask a couple of fellas which dog you should choose out of a litter. You did that because you didn't know enough and called on those that did. That was the right thing to do. But in the next breath you can't be lambasting others for not knowing enough or for making newbie mistakes with regards to dogs breeding.

You have made so many rediculous and unsubstantiated points there, I dont know where to start.

1) The whippet pup thread was a joke, a wind-up, someone taking the piss.

2) The converting 200 yards to swimming pool lengths was just to put it in real terms, you were saying 200 yards was a realistic length to slip a dog on the beam, and more to the point you said you could identify a species of quarry at that range. I was stating that I disagree and to arrive at that decision I converted 200 yards into real terms.

3) My experience is minimal compared to some of the blokes on here, but of course I can pass comment on a mans dogs or hunting technique. Why shouldnt I say a dog is nice looking or in good shape? Why shouldnt I say if I disagree with someones methods? Doesnt mean I am right or wrong and I am always open to suggestion.

4) I didnt ask anyone which dog I should choose. I made my mind up before even seeing the litter. I knew which pup I wanted. I was asking them which pup THEY would choose from the photo if it was there choice. Why not? Curiosity. Everyone said a different pup. It was just interesting to see what they said and why. Some looked at head shape, some thickness of legs, some feet. Its all part of learning isnt it? Asking questions?

5) I havent lambasted anyone or taken the piss out of a newbie. I would never do that. The whippet thread was a piss take like so many others on here. If a genuine newbie did come on here asking for a whippet stud to put over his saluki/collie/whippet to produce whippets then yes he would get the piss taken. If his common sence and previous research doesnt tell him that he is talking utter piss with his question then how on earth is he going to manage with the day to day basics of a working dog? Yes I have asked plenty of questions in the past. Some stupid ones to the experienced man I am sure. But any that stupid? I dont think so...

All the best.

Gaz

Gaz, we have a mutual friend on Facebook who's seen my dog run, seen him pick up bunnies after long slips, seen the distance I slip at and seen my big lumbering 30" deerhound x, overtake a fast 25" dog, then out turn him and out accelerate him and catch the quarry. I'm sure he can explain what I'm about, whether I'm a keyboard warrior and whether or not I've been running dogs for years. He'll also tell you that I'm a bigger piss taker than anyone.

Why the hang up with the guy calling his dog a whippet, it had more whippet than anything, and if crossed to a whippet then the pups would be even more whippet lol like your deerhound x lollol

But my pup is a deerhound x

Or do you disagree?

His would never be whippets would they? :icon_eek:

Your pup is a lurcher, my dog is a deerhound x.

FFS I give up.

Everyone should go and read it through and realise what a joke this place is. It's embarrassing, the replies on there are unbelievable, like a bunch of bullying, bitchy teenage girls, who start off la

Aye well - for what it's worth I can't believe folk are getting all high and mighty regarding a post that was obviously started as a piss take/wind up....   Apart from the idiot and his rambling fi

Gaz, I said in my previous post that I thought you'd done the right thing by asking about which dog to have and I don't think there's any stupid questions.

I just don't think you should be telling someone that in your opinion something can't be done when you've seen nothing really. You can come and see for yourself how a proper dog can be slipped at long distance and how a proper lamp will allow you to identify what you're slipping at.

I only lamp rats with my terrier, she can't run as far as my longdog.

The way some people talk she'd probably give their running dogs a run for their money!!! Lol!!!

I take it from your username that you've got a whippet? If that's the case, regardless of what the law says you're limited to rats and rabbits anyway. And short slips for them asthmatic little yappers.

Coming from the same man who questioned the experience of Paulus and labelled Borderscott a fanny. And know neither of them

Paulus was wrong because his FEO had given him duff information. He's wrong about 200 yard slips so he's never seen them happen, so I can surmise that he didn't do anything bigger prevan so therefore, he's got limited experience in my opinion.

If Borderscort was offended by my fanny comment then he needs to stop being a fanny. I'm sure he got the joke.

That's twice I've been called a fanny on here.....Kranky had a go yesterday and one of the Irish saluki lads hit me with it a while ago after I had hijacked his 6th saluki thread of the day with nonsense about collie xs.....:laugh::laugh:

Perhaps I need to take a long hard look at myself......:laugh::laugh:

Fork me that was painful !!!!!!!!

Surely you don't need 25 years of experience to to give help and advice . I've given and taken bad advice but as old blue eyes would sing "THAT'S LIFE."

I have to agree that youngsters and newbie's should be helped but I'm too long in the tooth to suffer some fools and life's to short to try and educate some folk.

Lets not take this all too seriously because when I close the lap top I'm still sat by the fire with my family and the dogs are in there runs asleep waiting for the next hunting trip .
