crorider 174
My pup cut his stopper bad a month ago. Tried gluing it a few times but only lasted a couple of hours Everytime.. not sure why. I've used it on other cuts a few times and it's worked fine but it's not as good as staples. Can't really usr them on a stopper tho. It's taken the best part of a month to heal without the glue holding but it's pretty much there now Quote Link to post
lamping lad 96
yeah mate i dont want to fcuk it up, so im just wrapping it and salt watering it and using a spray called hypocare seems to be getting there! cheers mate Quote Link to post
Bootsha 1,306
the proper super glue for animals is called derma bond.... apparently, but its not cheap. I find that "liquid weld" is a much stronger version of super glue, looks the same etc, but really is industrial strength stuff. 2 Quote Link to post
crorider 174
I'll give that liquid weld stuff a try next time then Quote Link to post
Bootsha 1,306
its the dogs bollocks mate. go on youtube and type it in, theres a guy there doing a demo, same guy as i bought it off at an agricultural show one day, they sell it on ebay and all, may be cheaper off the guy himself, but get the remover as well..... just in case like lol. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Liquid-Weld-Glue-30-gram-bottle-/151140853731?pt=UK_Crafts_Cardmaking_Scrapbooking_Glue_Tape_EH&hash=item2330b267e3 Try that for size Quote Link to post
crorider 174
Cheers bootsha definitely be getting myself a bottle of that. Personally don't think you can beat staples but can't use them in certain areas Quote Link to post
Bootsha 1,306
I agree, staples are very good indeed,my first choice mostly, but sometimes a suture is better suited due to the location or nature of the cut, again, in some instances, super glue can be the solution. Its good to keep all 3 available in the first aid box ( if you can get hold of sutures that is). The thing with any of the stuff you keep in your dog first aid box, when you need it, you f****n need it THEN !!, no good sending off for it when your dog needs attention, get it sent for, check the contents of your box well before the season starts. Just my humble opinion. B Quote Link to post

B think your spot on there. iv sutures an the tools for the job an a few other bits ordered of ebay. i got caught out couple weeks ago when pup got a bad rip an nothing on hand to fix it. i wouldnt use glue as i think it leaves a weakness in the skin Edited October 15, 2013 by Banter Quote Link to post

And I've never know it weaken skin as there hands go through a lot but maybe different on dogs though Quote Link to post
