The 97/77 I found easier to strip down than the 95/98

and I never cut myself! you must be quite clumsy emiliianoksa :tongue2:

but yes a NEW hw is deffo hit and miss.. my new 77 is definitely MISS  at £350 you expect better

Yes, I suppose I am. :icon_redface:

Should have worn gloves.

The insides of both guns were a sloppy mess.

Still love Weihrauchs though, and would buy another.

Would get a TX as well though, so that I could enjoy some shooting during the time it took me to get the HW sorted out.

Well i bought a Webley Valuemax in .177 for £100 brand new in green, the camo is £20 or so extra and adds nothing to the gun. I also bought a set of scope mounts and a tin of accupells grand total £120.

1st off i will say im not overly keen on the synthetic stock, thats just me im sure.

overall, its shoots very well, has an auto on safety catch (when you cock it the safety comes on) which swung this purchase as my daughter uses it. It is accurate, well balanced, light and comfortable to shoot. Overall im very pleased and suprised by this little gun.

It was marketed along side a crossman and some smk at prices ranging from £69 to £139 ish most of which are a similar design style and look almost the same but are missing the auto safety feature.

My "local" gunshop also has a second hand BSA Meteor a mk2 i believe for the same sort of mony as an SMK £70ish but it was rough by my own standards but im sure a good gun and i would deffo consider a mk7 Meteor although my gunshop doesn't stock them.

So with that in mind i went with my son to look for a suitable rifle for him, he likes my Hw77 and wanted something similar, personally i considered this a poor choice based on his build as it's a heavy unit. Dave did have a Hw57 in at £185 second hand and we also looked at the crossman at around £169. i didn't like the balance on either the wood or the synthetic option or the foregrip shape on the synthetic.

I had my eye on a Webley omega although it was a .22 and we were looking for .177, my son hadn't seemed to impressed with it at first glance as it had some really crappy camo tape on the end of the barrel and looked scruffy.

I got him to try it anyway and could see instantly it was a nice gun, weight was good, excellent balance, it comes up nice and quick, the stock was nice and clean and it had a wide angle 3-9x40 scope, braided sling and silencer fitted £199 sold.

it shoots excellent, is very accurate, and quiet. It is so smooth to cock and barely makes a sound just a click when it locks, features the same style of safety as the Valuemax although its more precise and the barrel locks in the closed position so the strap doesn't break the barrel. you have to release the barrel to cock it.

Depending on what you buy, older guns such as BSA, Webley etc from around the late 80's and 90's offer good value as i feel these were better built then modern variants. This may even be the case with Wierhauch rifles as mine is a 1986 vintage and i have read that modern ones are a bit hit or miss out of the box! Sad.
