The lightforce range of kit is excellent i use them myself, but the blitz is a bit big if your inside the transport also very bright for the close up shots.

i use the lance and have shot at it's range and taken out to 420 yards, but i think the striker would be the best dual purpose, for long and short range shots. clulite are also up there too. the choice is yours.

Yeppers ~ sorry mate; I didn't even realise this was under the guns section! ~ I'm a CluLite (ShootaLite) man myself. I understand the 'Lamping' boys prefer their LiteFarce's, because making them work, once they've taken it out of the box, fills them with such a sense of achievment!

For my part, the ShootaLite fits my bill. Buy it. Charge it. Use it. End of.

I like the fact that the lamp head's small. I Love the fact that ye can just pull it off the rifle top mounting and hold it in ye hand. Then pop it back on for the action. I'm happy with its just over the 100 yard effective range - my eyes simply can't see that well past 150 yards anyway, these days.

I Hate, with a vengeance, the weight of the f*cking battery! I Despise the fact that it's strap adds to the jarring weight on my right shoulder as I walk. I'm a bit miffed with the huge switch to turn the light on / off.

But batteries are batteries, so there it is. The switch? Like the school reports tend to say; 'Could do better'.

What're you going to be using it to hunt?

The best handheld is the one that you've mentioned. If it's too big then the 170 Striker. On either, get a dimmer.

Pro's are that they are the best beam out there, con is the connections which a blind monkey could fix with it's toes only, not all people are as handy though :whistling:

Try the Deben range of gun lamps. There tracer pro and pro tactical are ideal for the airgun hunter ( light weight, 100m beam), there mini pro model is great for the rimfire shooter ( also light weight, adjustable beam, 250m beam), or there maxi pro is ideal for the long range fox shooter ( a little heavy than the other two, but has a 400m adjustable beam). Oh, and they all have a dimmable beam and come with a red filter as standard. They are all under £150 pounds. Hope this elps. Cheers

I agree with above buy a 170, get the new dimmer there 30quid more, but it will be worth it.

I don't know if you seen the thread on here about problems with lightforce, not the lamp but the wiring, i had problems with it once. There easly fixed. Its now into its third season, it takes a right old battering.I'm thinking off upgrading to a dimmer one shortly.

Just incase you didn't know, Deben sell the inline dimmer unit seperately. Probably be a PITA for handheld lamps but you can wire it onto a scope mounted lamp and it's easy to use.

me and my mate use the lightforce 240 with red filter. but just lately we have been using the 170 lightforce instead from the jeep. and we have been using the amber filter on it for a change. its just as bright as the red one on the 240 if not brighter. we have had loads of foxes on it to lately so it must be working well. i would get the 170 or the 240 with dimmer :victory:

If you want a serious hand held rifle lamp for fox [you need a lamper] there is only one.....the blitz. A clulite wont put enough light on a fox at 500 yards [with a filter] to tell what it is... a blitz will.I,ve never had a problem with the wiring either.
