He must have a fair opinion of himself, either that or he's broke. Lennox Lewis was at the height of his game when the state of heavyweight fighting was at it's lowest IMO.

For a 100 million sovs I would get in the ring with a f***ing Lion !

mike Tyson should be the lesson to rich fighters to do better with your money so that you never need to come back down and out bums needing money, id hate to see lewis or calzaghe coming back only to get beaten badly and lose theyre legacies in doing so. it happened with joe lewis , George foreman although he was hard as nails and was lucky, and iron mike coming back to get beaten by McBride all for money. and im sure many many more

i see your point mate and it was quite embarassing to watch to be fair when tyson stood up in front of everyone and said it was just another pay day but at the end of the day its the only way they know how to make some serious money

calzaghe for me was one of the most under rated british boxers we have ever seen the man was amazing to watch

Absolutley spot on...he beat guys on there way down.....if he was fighting 10 years earlier he wouldn't have made it past Europe....proficient against mediocre opposition and one of ,if not the dullest Heavyweight champion ever....wouldn't cross the road to watch him.I cant believe anybody would want to watch this,he was boring then and will be worse now  rather spend £15 on a tin of paint and a brush....far more entertaining

I think his resume is actually very good.

Against Vitali, Lewis was his heaviest ever AT 256.5lbs and at nearly 38 past his best, he had trained to fight Kirk Johnson a vastly different opponent to Vitali but Johnson pulled out injured.Lewis lost the early rounds against Vitali but held his own after the 4th.Vitali required 60 stitches after the fight .

Were not "on their way down" when Lewis got them, and in his last fights Lewis was the older, past prime fighter.

As for him being boring, I think he was in a lot more exciting fights than Wlad or his brother Vitali have ever been in.

In summary Lewis was beaten only twice and revenged those defeats. He is the last great heavyweight.imo.

I doubt Lewis has any serious intention of coming back, he is just yanking chains , and judging from the response here , it seems to be working.

I didnt know Lewis was preparing for another fighter before Klitchsko...........what sort of time frame was there between the other fella pulling out and the Klitchsko fight any idea ?..................Good post that mate very informative id forgot a lot of those names on his record  ......got to be at least 8 or 9 common opponents with Tyson.....interesting.

Lewis was contracted to fight Johnson in June, but with Johnson injured the promotion was in danger of falling apart. Vitali was due to be on the original bill as a supporting bout, and if both of them won their respective bouts they were to meet that December.

With Vitali fit and ready to fight he was fast forwarded in as the opponent and they met on June 21st.

What i meant was how much notice did Lewis have for a new opponent........preparing for one opponent only for it to change to a different opponent is difficult enough at any level.....let alone a world title fight !.............Just wondered if it was short notice enough to make a real difference in his eventual performance...........but then again if they were both preparing for fighters on the same show they were both in the same boat really.

I agree...........i think the whole David Price thing was probably a bit embarrassing for him and he maybe feels this 100 mill thing shows his worth.....without really having to do anything.

Lewis was recognized as champion in 1993 , if he had been around ten years earlier, he would have faced.

Champ

Larry Holmes.

1.Gerrie Coetzee,[ kod in 1rd by Bruno,I was ringside].

2.Greg Page,[couldnt walk past his ice box]

3.Mike Dokes ,[kod by Coetzee coked up waster]

4.Pinklon Thomas,[ heroin addict]

5.Tim Witherspoon,[ had a job to beat Bruno tested positive for Marijuana twice]

6.Mike Weaver,[kod by Lewis in 6rds, it was only Lewis's 15th fight]

7.David Bey

8.John Tate [kod by Weaver]

9.Trevor Berbick,[ kod by Tyson who was kod by Lewis].

10.Frank Bruno,[ kod by Lewis in 7 rds]

An aging champion,[ Holmes was 34,] and a good top ten , none of whom would I make favourite to beat a prime Lewis.

I don't think you have much of a grasp of this subject

Four hours ago Boxing News estimated Lewis's net worth at $60.000,000, I doubt he will be seen selling The Big Issue.

exactly it made him look like a bit of a c**t having his name on that but the 100 mil will probably be agreed and lewisis pride will go out the window cause thats one hell of a pay day

while im on it i think boxing is starting to go down hill its not about the fight or the best opponent anymore its the size of the pay check 100 mil for a fight that could potentionally last 30 seconds fair play they need to bring some specialists in but thats a serious amout of coin

if i knew i was getting even a third of that i wouldnt give a shit about the fight cause i knew what was coming after it

And thats why you will never be fighting for a world title.................with all due respect like ;)

Its easy to let the mind start racing when it comes to a fighters pay..............but no fighter who has the attitude of " i dont give a shit " reaches a level worthy of big pay days.

I dont begrudge these lads a penny.... living the fighters life is a hard way to live that not many people have the dedication or character to do.........film stars reach fantastic wealth because they have a rare talent......so do pop stars and many others....................so why shouldnt top sportsmen get the same.....a combination of the highest degree of talent, ability, hard work and determination in the hardest of sports is justification for financial riches in my opinion.
