Thought Lewais had to much pride and respeect for the game than this, like Gnasher says it insulting to the current chapion, surely ayounger contender should have the pleasure, not someone whom has made a great living from the game and cannot be short of a bob or two, he must be feckin mad ,

He must have a fair opinion of himself, either that or he's broke. Lennox Lewis was at the height of his game when the state of heavyweight fighting was at it's lowest IMO.

For a 100 million sovs I would get in the ring with a f***ing Lion !

Absolutley spot on...he beat guys on there way down.....if he was fighting 10 years earlier he wouldn't have made it past Europe....proficient against mediocre opposition and one of ,if not the dullest Heavyweight champion ever....wouldn't cross the road to watch him.I cant believe anybody would want to watch this,he was boring then and will be worse now  rather spend £15 on a tin of paint and a brush....far more entertaining

Bit harsh that mate.....the division was at its absolute weakest ever in the mid 80's....the only memorable thing of that era was Tyson.....yet the fighters on the way up who he fought were still worse than the fighters on the way down Lewis fought.

Maybe Gnash :hmm: I just cant get excited by the fella...just found him boring as feck to watch, his interviews worse still....can remember staying up till daft o,clock in the morning to watch Tyson...the guy had such presence in the ring and was so exciting to watch, still don't think he got the credit he deserved, all the "hes just an animal" "hes a streetfighter" bollocks, technically the guy was amazing, fantastic movement...by comparison Lewis is...well...incomparable...never looked like he was enjoying the game either. The Europe dig maybe a bit unfair..but Ill stick by the rest

Not always about excitement though is it mate..... Stoke City are the most depressingly ugly team to watch ive ever seen but they are good enough and efficient enough to be in the premiership..... Likewise Lewis wasnt half as exciting as Tyson but would of beaten him 99 out of every 100 times they fought in my opinion....intimidation and brute force can only get you so far as Tyson found out.

Lewis 48 and hasn't had a fight for nearly ten and a half years.

I think if Wladimir Klitschko ,or is that Grabimir Klutschko, had any respect for the game he would not have performed like he did last Saturday night.

I think his resume is actually very good.

Against Vitali, Lewis was his heaviest ever AT 256.5lbs and at nearly 38 past his best, he had trained to fight Kirk Johnson a vastly different opponent to Vitali but Johnson pulled out injured.Lewis lost the early rounds against Vitali but held his own after the 4th.Vitali required 60 stitches after the fight .

Were not "on their way down" when Lewis got them, and in his last fights Lewis was the older, past prime fighter.

As for him being boring, I think he was in a lot more exciting fights than Wlad or his brother Vitali have ever been in.

In summary Lewis was beaten only twice and revenged those defeats. He is the last great heavyweight.imo.

I doubt Lewis has any serious intention of coming back, he is just yanking chains , and judging from the response here , it seems to be working.

Five were emphatic stoppages, the other a fast paced action fight.

Lewis scored 3kd's in 5rds against a prime Briggs.[ Vitali could not drop a 40 years old Briggs who went the distance.]Dropping Briggs 3 times in 5 rds is boring?

How can dropping an opponent 3 times in 5 rds make a boring fight ?

Lewis dropped Tucker twice,[ first man to do so,] to take an easy win whenTucker went into survival mode.

Tua sampled a couple of right hands early on and opted to stay the distance without taking any chances

Lewis dropped Ruddock 3 times in 2 rds. again how can that be boring?

Botha was thrashed .

I think you have a strange idea about what's boring

mercer was robbed in that fight he won it by a mile

It was a close fight but a just decision, imo US referee and two US judges ,the other a Mexican. The" robbery," was the draw with Holyfield.
you a Lewis fan then

Lewis was contracted to fight Johnson in June, but with Johnson injured the promotion was in danger of falling apart. Vitali was due to be on the original bill as a supporting bout, and if both of them won their respective bouts they were to meet that December.

With Vitali fit and ready to fight he was fast forwarded in as the opponent and they met on June 21st.

mike Tyson should be the lesson to rich fighters to do better with your money so that you never need to come back down and out bums needing money, id hate to see lewis or calzaghe coming back only to get beaten badly and lose theyre legacies in doing so. it happened with joe lewis , George foreman although he was hard as nails and was lucky, and iron mike coming back to get beaten by McBride all for money. and im sure many many more
