Got fhh around 28weeks now, got her at 20wks pr.. at first she screamed at the dogs - understandable, and with this being my first bop and enough work to do already i just kept the dogs away and worked on manning and entering.. now entered and weight sorted im happy chappy until she see's the dogs.. the fear has gone and she just wants to attack them, she will eat on the fist at a distance with the dogs around then as soon as she finishes she squeaks excited and bates at the dogs, ive tried crating the dog with hawk on bow perch and she soon settles bk on her perch then once the dogs running round she gets giddy again.. this needs fixing due to dog walkers on permissions.. ive already taken out insurance just incase.. any advice??

I do believe harrises have a natural dislike to dogs, I had a female and she hated my dogs, when flying free, she would come down low over the dogs. and strike them on the back, or on the head, some accept dogs and some don't, you just need to show her as much as possible from a young age, so that nothing comes as a shock to her, have her in such a position that she can see the dogs all the time, and hopefully she will accept them as part of your team, you get good ones and you get bad ones.........

best of luck,

The hatred apparently comes from the coyote in the wild :-/ i really hope she comes round, i think she sees them as game the way she behaves.. takes the fun out of it when im worrying about a dog appearing out of the tree line.. i have a new permission full of hare i went to on sat, hawk chased hare which took to a ditch and then she spotted a border terrier running the tree line on the other side of a big field, looked like another hare at first until i realised.. my arse was twitching to say the least haha wernt funny at the time, when i got ther she was up a tree and the dog had moved on.. she has put in on a lab repeatedly 3 times.. its just takin the fun out of it :(

Mmm, you should of manned her with the dogs as that's what manning means, but hindsight is a wonderful thing you need to weather her out on a bow or high perch and let the dogs wonder if they are bird safe plus I would feed something like a quail on the fist with the dogs about then have a walk round with the dogs and bird on fist. Good luck they don't always turn round mind some just hate them ful stop!
